Well this did in fact take forever a fact I'm not proud of. But I have a good reason, several good reasons, like my new job, school work, and most recently I caught a cold.
The biggest thing that's been keeping you from your next chapter is me going around in circles on what to write. I can't call it writer's block per say because I knew what i wanted to happen next. The basic way I come up with a story is to come up with a premise the story can revolve around then say I want this scene to play out here, and this character show up there, and I want this to happen happen half way through and this is how it'll end. When i have that I just fill in the dots between those points and viola i have a story.
The problem I was having with this chapter in particular was that I knew what I wanted to do later in the chapter, but nothing I wrote in-between seemed to be good enough. So I deleted that entire chapter and started from scratch, so that's what three weeks of attempted work flushed down the drain.
Now here's what I did do and if you haven't read the chapter yet *Mini-Spoilers*
Originally this chapter was going to introduce Octavia's school and then have her move onto a regular day at Vinyl's. It was also supposed to reveal several unique traits Octavia had discovered about Vampires from observing Vinyl. I'll reveal those later. But basically I wanted to do three things in that chapter
1.introduce some more characters for Octavia to play off of
2. Introduce Octavia to more of the supernatural weirdness around her.
3.Give Vinyl and Octavia some bonding time.
I managed to include all three while managing to include things like their mutual love of music and a few plot points that should come in handy later. Don't be mistaken, I'm still not 100% on what i put out, but if I was I wouldn't be an artist. Flapper ghost Lyra is going to be around for awhile I don't want to ruin much, but she's going to sort of be the go between for Vinyl and Octavia. Also I'm pretty sure I can get some more good jokes out of her.
