The Pastel Pony: Quarantined · 12:58am Nov 27th, 2014
So, for the last week or so, I've had a pretty awful cough, and my sister, with the same problem, came back from the doctor's this morning with an official diagnosis of whooping cough. Since I have the exact symptoms she does, I've also been put on meds and informed I can't be around other people for at least five days.
This rather ruins all my Thanksgiving break plans... And while I'm a bit of an introvert, even I'll lose my mind basically on quarantine for nearly a week.
So why am I telling you all this? Well, in an attempt to be as optimistic as possible, I figured I'd use this spare time to get some writing done, which means new updates on my stories! I'm giving my priorities over to Wildfire and To Be A Parent, but hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in something else (feel free to comment and let me know what you'd like to see updated and such).
In another attempt to keep myself from boredom, I've also opened a tumblr as a sort of side-blog to all my pony activities, so please don't hesitate to question me about my stories, ponies in general, or hell, even my life if you're curious. Celestia knows it's the most human contact I'll have for a while.
That's it for now! Keep an eye out for new updates!

I know how you feel, and I honestly mean that; I had a bout with pertussis last winter (and since at the time, the office had plenty of mothers and fathers who had children ages Brand New to 3, this was a big deal). It's generally only fatal or even really serious in young children and those with other respiratory illnesses, so you might still be able to enjoy some of your break. Just wear a surgical mask or a respirator with an ultra-fine filter, and take a cough suppressor, and you should be OK as long as you avoid going outside or being near small children.
After about 5 days on the drugs, you should not be contagious any longer, but keep taking them until you finish the full treatment, and make sure you get a TDAP when you can.
