Start of a Brony · 10:43am Nov 26th, 2014
I'm just curious. When did all of you guys decide to become bronies?
I'll start with mine. I was just sitting in front of my computer, playing online. When all of a sudden, I'm in a lobby full of bronies. I was initially weirded out, seeing I've never met a brony before. But hey, whatever floats your boat, right? So yeah, I kept calm and carried on, when suddenly one of them asks if I can join them in roleplaying (or something along the lines of that). Not really thinking much about it, I thought.
"Well why the fuck not?"
So I spent a good few hours roleplaying with them, playing along even though I have never really even seen the show myself or got myself to know some characters of the show. I didn't want to be rude, so I just went with it. I won't lie, I had a lot of fun. I had a sort of a text based adventure with them the whole two hours. Eventually, I left the lobby and didn't think much of it afterwards. However, I started to think more and more about the show. What were the characters like? Why did these people like the show in the first place? Is it really that good?
So I went along and got myself to watch the first few episodes. I was a bit incredulous at first, but I got the hang of it. Eventually, I got to the point where I started watching an episode everyday. That was the point where I became a brony. Because of those awesome guys back in the lobby, they led me to who I am now.
How did you become a brony?
I was on ifunny last October when the term, "broney" showed up in one of the pictures. At first I thought they were attempting to say, "brownie". I ignored it but a few days later it popped up again. Curious, I looked it up and found it was spelled, "brony". I clicked on a random Web page and discovered it to be MLP. I knew what MLP was because I had babysat for a few girls but I never paid attention or watched it. When I learned that there were so many adults watching it I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the animation and characters. I still didn't like it all that much however. I have a rule with TV shows that I have to watch three episodes before passing judgement. So, after watching another two episodes I thought it deserved more of my attention. I watched a lot of the episodes at once and I joined a MLP steam group to learn a little more about it. A day later there was an add on the group asking for help editing a story. I offered and found fimfiction. Two months later in December I started writing for the first time on here. I am glad that I did. That's my story of how I became a brony.
