Commissions are now... open? · 7:15pm Nov 25th, 2014
It's no great secret that the author known as Seven Fates is unemployed. She certainly whines enough about how she can't get a break. In fact, the only income she has at all comes from bottle/can reclamation deposit—since she and her family greatly enjoys beverages of a carbonated sort—and a low-income tax credit that she receives from the province every fiscal quarter. Now, as some of you realize, reading this, she doesn't have a lot of money to spend. With the holidays coming up, Seven would especially like a bit of extra spending money... and to stop talking in the third person.
That's where you come in. Starting today, I will be taking writing commissions.
What is a writing commission?
Since not everybody is familiar with the concept of whoring out your artistic talents for money, a commission is a piece of work that an artist or writer is paid by an individual to produce. The commissioner gives the artist the specifications of what they want, and the artist works in those constraints. For example, if you wanted me to write a story about Scootaloo accidentally eating a hallucinogenic mushroom and going on a psychedelic adventure, you would tell me the basic plot idea, characters, story length [See Cost and Payment], and how much artistic freedom you wish me to have. After completion of the work, I will link you to a Google document. When it meets your approval and I have received payment in full, the story is released on FIMFiction should you so wish.
Cost and Payment
Now, quite obviously, I am not writing commissions for free. It would defeat the entire point of it being a commission in the first place. Because time is money *, I have set out a basic pricing system.
Regular Stories: USD$10/1000 words, with stories exceeding 10,000 words facing an additional USD$2.50 per 1000 words for time investment.
Clop Stories: USD$12.50/1000 words, with stories exceeding 10,000 words facing an additional USD$1 per 1000 words for time investment.Once the projected story length, characters, content, and a timeline are agreed upon via private message, I will provide you with a PayPal account. At that point, I will ask for 50% of the agreed upon price to hold as insurance of completion and our arrangement. Should you at any time decide to void our agreement, the 50% will be held to account for my time and effort.
Basically, you pay 50% up-front and 50% upon completion. Not wholly a unreasonable request given that you are paying for my time.
Rules for Commissions:
1: Because life cannot be predicted, I ask that you be patient when it comes to your commission. I won't mind if you check in every other day or so, but hounding me multiple times a day will not get it done faster. I happen to be responsible for preparing meals and tending to the animals in this household, so my every waking moment cannot and will not be dedicated solely to writing.
2: Related to the first rule, I'd ask that you allow for at least a week minimum for completion of any commission between 1000 and 3000 words, and an additional week for stories 4000 to 6000 long, and so forth. By allowing me more time for completion, you are allowing me to write a more quality product. Also keep in mind if I have another story in the queue ahead of you. To this effect, I will attempt to keep you informed on delays or queue status.
3: Please don't waste my time. If the half up-front payment wasn't enough of an indicator, I want serious requests. This is non-negotiable.
4: If you attempt to screw me over in any way, I will do my best to ensure that nobody will ever do a commission for you again on this site. So if you think you can just have me write a story and then make a chargeback the for the whole amount after I've held up my part of the bargain, please refer to the third rule.
5: Don't be a dick. This should need no explanation.
6: Tell me exactly what you want. If you are vague about anything, you are either not taking it seriously, or are giving me implicit permission for artistic license, which could be good or bad.
What is Seven not willing to write?
I will be willing to write about most subjects, so rather than telling you what I will write, it might be simpler to explain what I won't.
I will not write:
-Scat/Watersports: This also includes adult baby/diaper lover, infantilism, coprophagia and urolagnia.
-Vore: This also includes cock vore, goo absorption, and anal vore. Unbirth hit or miss.
-Rape Fantasy: I take rape seriously and cannot in good conscience write a rape story intended to be sexy for the sake of being sexy.
-Hyper/Macro: This is not so much something I won't write as it is something I'm not comfortable with. Ask if you will, and depending on the degree, I might say yes.
-Foalcon: No exceptions. I've tried in the past to write it, but it makes me uneasy.
-Nothing that violates federal law.
I have opened two slots, which will be marked on my userpage alongside my active stories.

**FAIR USE**
Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research.
Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing.
Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.
FAIR USE DEFINITION:
(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use)
Fair use is a doctrine in the United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. The term “fair use” originated in the United States. A similar principle, fair dealing, exists in some other common law jurisdictions. Civil law jurisdictions have other limitations and exceptions to copyright.
Damn. Good luck. I had a idea, but it essentially violates one of your rules. Oh well, I'm sure you will be able to fill up your spots in no time.
2616180 And which of my no-go's was it, out of curiosity?
2616196 This also includes adult baby/diaper lover, infantilism Keep in mind not the other stuff you mentioned, anything after or before that sentence is just gross. Though, watersports appears to have a vague definition and doesn't necessarily mean what everyone thinks it does, well, at least when involving what is in the spoiler tag.
Ah, yeah. That one's definitely a non-negotiable one. I can't really get into the mindset behind that, anyway.
2616211 Then I wouldn't want you to write it, would turn out bad lol.
Oh...you're talking porn...nope.
2620292 Note the prices. I'm taking regular stories AND clop.
2621010 Ah.
How much for another chapter of the Button/Dee Pad fic? ;P
