Magic Ears sequel; potential premise. (looking for feedback) · 10:42pm Nov 14th, 2014

Hi there everybody. I have been considering ideas for a sequel to Magic Ears. I don't think that I can do an 'immediately thereafter' sequel, treating the first story more like a first chapter. The ending of that story is just too happily-ever-after. I am, of course, open to suggestions. If you think you have a plot that could work, I'm all ears. Anyway, my idea was to do a story set somewhat farther in the future; perhaps about fifteen years. After Twilight Time, it seemed plausible that Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle could have magic-related talents, and in my universe, Scootaloo does too. My idea would be to write about the Center for Magical Curiosities (CMC), a group of three trench-coat-wearing mares who make it their business to investigate Equestria's strangest unsolved mysteries. It wouldn't be purely slice-of-life: there would be some adventure and noir themes mixes in.

Would you be interested in this story? Do you have any improvements or completely different ideas?

I like the idea! Some worldbuilding would be a perfect start/introduction to the story, and a pinch of comedy just might make it golden; however, I have seen many other writers (mainly fanfiction, some tv shows) make their story simply a random collection of events with the same, two-dimensional main characters, and it would be best if you did as well as you could to avoid that. Accusation is not my intention, simply to warn of this problem; writers that create the type of stories mentioned above often do not receive a very large or receptive following because the story grows old from being repetitive and/or without an actual plot. The point I'm trying to make is that plotting and characterization is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Even for villains. Especially for villains!
ANYWAY, I love the idea and can't wait for the sequel! :D

2596105 Well, you're the only one who responded, so I guess that's 100% approval... so I guess I'll get cracking!

Yeah, let's try to avoid that, shall we? I can't promise super-deep characters, or even a good story for that matter, but I'll do my best!
