It's actually been years now since I joined the MLP community (first on DA, then later making a home here), inspired simply by FiM's opening to create a fic that could expand upon the few things we knew of FiM's lore. Starfall was my "what if" story, a mashup of various ideas (what if Celestia had a child? What would happen if a unicorn's horn shattered? What would Luna be feeling after being banished for so long?), but at its core driven mostly by a desire to make a character that could actually be a part of the show.
And so, in all my wisdom, I of course made it an alicorn. 
*clears throat* Time has gone on, and as the story grew, (and grew, and greeeeew,) I knew it had not only gotten out of hand, it had also lost direction. It was a story built from a single concept, but had way too many facets and was impossible to keep focused.
I have over 180 Starfall files on just my iPad alone...
Now don't get me wrong. I absolutely love how my first story turned out. It has flaws (heh... so many) but it was a contained story, simply focused on revenge and redemption. At its core it deals with what's right and wrong and just how far we can go when we lose control of our emotions. While poorly written, it was likely the best of my stories because it focused on the most basic of concepts and didn't try to over-explain everything.
With that said, there is still so much of the Starfall universe that is unreleased. Side stories involving new characters, sequels and prequel stories, and all kinds of extras that were intended to be added to chapters but were cut because... well, Dominion of the Night (as well as Pillar of Time) had just gotten too out of hand. I don't want this stuff to stay locked up forever, but I also can't release any of it it in its current form. Because of that, tomorrow I'll be announcing my next big project; one that finally brings all these things together and updates everything I've done so far. It's a huge undertaking to say the least, but I think the end result will make it worth it.
