    Sometimes, I hate FIMfiction.

I post about an Amber Alert in a group. My only replies are "Wat" and "H'okay, calm down and leave the investigation to the police there, Batman. We aren't the Emergency Broadcast System.

    Countdown

Four days. Four days until I'm 26. With my birthday coming up soon, I figure I should find a way to thank you guys for being so patient while I update nothing. Unfortunately, my writer's block is still here. So, while I can't promise an update to ASOT, I can promise a oneshot story to help me get back in the writing rythm. And if it's not out by my birthday on the 24th, it'll be out in time for

So, what have I been doing since my Writer's Block came?

Training. But not just any training, Pokemon Training. I've gotten really good at training my pokemon, too. I've managed to sweep OU and Uber teams, despite what I have on mine. Granted, some of it is luck, but it's mostly skill. Here, let me show you my team.

First guy you're gonna see is Wayne, my Crobat.

Sometimes, I hate FIMfiction. · 10:34pm Oct 28th, 2014

I post about an Amber Alert in a group. My only replies are "Wat" and "H'okay, calm down and leave the investigation to the police there, Batman. We aren't the Emergency Broadcast System.
~Locked."

Let me explain. I'm signed up to receive emergency texts concerning weather and criminal activity that might impact the area where I'm at. If the police are asking for help, I'm one of many people who receive a text. I just received a text a few minutes ago. So, dumbass admin, quit being a nihilist, because the police are asking for help.

For those of you who don't know, an amber alert is a child abduction alert system. If you're interested in helping at all, it's near Odenton, Maryland. The perp was driving a 2009 Green Honda CR-V LIC/4AW5518. I could find the guy if I had an email or a phone number, so if you think you can help me out, then it'd be appreciated.

Yes. We know what it is.
However, there are probably thousands of similar alerts and disasters that happen every single day around the world. Are we going to post all of them? And fuck everyone else who wants to use the group for its intended purpose?

The Writer's Group isn't the place for that. If people plan to go out and read license plates, they can sign up for that service.

So, dumbass admin, quit being a nihilist, because the police are asking for help.

I'm a very optimistic secular humanist, who believes everyone has the responsibility to do good. And that by and large people these days do so, and the world is excellent and meaningful.

The police ask for help every day in a hundred cities. However, I'm the admin for The Writer's Group, not the Police Helpline Group.

2561207 Oh crap, that was you? Well shit. Sorry. And I'll leave it at that.

But my point remains. The police are asking for help, and I just wanna do my part.

I'm not faulting you for your zeal, and I'm super-glad you're willing to help out when something goes wrong.

However, I have a responsibility to keep that forum readable and on-task, for everyone that uses it. I sympathize with the problem, but there are lots of places where it's more relevant and won't start a flood of forum-ruining me-too posts, each of which might hit, if one is lucky, one or two in the same state, nevermind the area, out of the thousands of other users getting spammed.

I do apologize for being snarkier than I should have been, though. Threads being hugely off-topic for the group are common as sin, and it can be easy to indulge in my natural snarkitude after the five-thousandth one.

2561230 I can forgive the snark. I wasn't paying attention to who was closing the thread because I was upset by what seemed like callousness.

And, to be fair, I thought I was posting in The Group Dedicated To Doing Whatever We Want Whenever We Want. Things tend to blur together when you don't pay attention.

Well, that probably wasn't the right group, but I guess they could have been nicer about it.

And hello fellow Marylander! *high fives*

1) Everyone in the state is already being spammed with this, even if they aren't opted in. It's annoying as hell and comes through even if you have the cell part of your cellphone turned off.

2) You aren't Batman. Anyone can find anyone given a phone number and/or email address.

3)It's a BOLO Be On (the) Look Out for the car and the guy. It's the police we're talking about here, if they have the tag number they have names already, assuming the car isn't stolen. They just want people looking for the car because they can't be everywhere at once, while by definition the public is. They don't need randoms trying to do their job.

2561444 Take your own advice. I already talked with the admins for the Writer's Group. Let them do their jobs.

Don't follow me onto my blog just to tell me off. That's harassment.

Thread was locked~

The lock-er did it as well, so.

2561555 Doesn't give you the right to try to do someone else's job. If they already saw it, then you don't need to step in.

2561555 You aren't an admin of TWG. Don't try to do our jobs, please.

I half-wondered if you were joking, but then saw you made a blog about it. I live nowhere near there. Sorry, there's nothing I can do. Do you know anything about the child?

2561870 Unfortunately, no. I just know the license plate and car color. I wish I had more information.

Honestly, I'm not the type to ignore a cry for help, that's why I was so uppity about it.
