General Update · 3:29am Oct 21st, 2014
So yep. Just checking in to say that I'm still working on that Chronicles re-write.
Yep. I'm trekking through that chapter 2 re-write. Yeppers. Mmm hmm. Without a doubt.
...Yeah.
I don't have much to show for it, but really, I am working hard (kinda) on re-creating the first few chapters of chronicles so that they are at level with my own expectations. I am very active on the site still, except right now I'm not looking/participating in group threads, which I probably should. I only have so many hours in the week to spend on My Little Pony fanfiction, but most of that time I spend reading stories that I'm not to enthusiastic about. Many of the stories that I have favorited, to my disappointment, have stopped updating. I don't know where their authors went, whether or not they stopped writing or left the fandom altogether or simply died, but whatever happened to them, they ain' writing anymore. Of course, it makes no sense to expect someone to actually follow through and finish a story that they've created. Writing stories are hard! And typing in the words that create those stories takes lots of time! I should know (cough cough 4-year-old-story-in-the-making-and-still-not-finished cough couch). But I can barely keep up with the influx of stories that stop updating and new stories that appear on the site that I just miss because I wasn't there to see it at the time. I will find more stories eventually, but the golden age of fanfiction reading that I was doing a few months ago has ended, and only now am I feeling the backlash of a lack of something to read during my spare time.
"Go read a real book!"
Not listening to you, subconscious.
I should really get back to finishing up that chapter 2 re-write now. Yep. Gonna go off and do that. Right now, the chapter 2 re-write is about 3000 words shorter than the original, which is a lot more than I had originally proposed, but most of those words actually mean stuff instead of being there just for filler and pointless fluff. I was able to add Spike in as a more active role (Yay!), cut most Griffin's over-analyzing inner dialogues and clean up the dynamic between Griffin and his new found magic. At this rate I might have to re-write all of the chapters! Well, instead of doing that I'm actually going to go ahead and simply fix up some of the chapters to include more of Griffin's magic. Griffin's magic is supposed to have a HUGE impact on the story, but so far he hasn't used much of it and is causing the end of the story more to be like a Deus Ex Machina. Not good, not wanted, needs fixing.
God I hate editing. It takes so long to do and I would rather move on do write more things but instead I'm stuck in the past trying to find every little mistyped word in a sea of letters that blend in together all to well on the blinding white background of Microsoft Word. But once I'm done editing chapter 2, I'll post it, as well as an update so I can get a few more views on Chronicles and shift gears towards Ignis. I really want to finish that story! And maybe edit it too. That would be a plus. My drive for work and writing isn't at it's highest right now. Normally I sit around and let my mind percolate until I get a great surge of writing inspiration and do it all in in a grand sweep of a month or so. but after writing Ghosts, I've been forcing myself to work on my projects because otherwise I'll never get them done (COUGH COUGH 4-YEAR-OLD-PROJECT COUGH COUGH).
We'll see how this goes, soon enough.
