It's stuff like this that makes me hate this city with a passion... · 3:58am Oct 17th, 2014

So, today was a pretty fucked up day for Detroit. But at the same time, it wasn't really too much out of the ordinary when you look at the whole scheme of things.

I was on my way home from school. Now, whenever I'm not bribing my mother for her car keys, I'm most likely taking the bus home. The second bus I take is scheduled to stop in front of a hospital.

As I wait for the bus, I see an ambulance with sirens blazing as they entered the hospital parking lot. Nothing really out of the ordinary there, since it is a hospital after all.

However, that's not what piqued my interest about the situation. What really grabbed my attention was the fact that there were at least nine police cars with their sirens on entering the hospital as well, followed by at least four more ambulance trucks. Now, this grabbed the attention of everyone at the bus stop, who then began chatting among themselves about what happened.

Apparently, two gangs from the school I attend decided to have a shootout earlier that day, and about six or seven bystanders were caught in the crossfire.

One of the victims was a two year old boy. The other victims were last seen to be in critical condition, but the child... he died before he reached the hospital.

The people around me were shocked by that, and most of them looked ready to cry. I don't blame them, since that child was way too young to be gunned down like that. What hit me the hardest about the whole situation was that I wasn't that surprised by it, not to the point that they were, at least. I mean, shit like this happens so often that the reality of it just doesn't shock me as much as it used to anymore. Just a few years ago, a little girl was shot in the head and killed by a police officer during a house raid that went horribly wrong, and people are murdered here almost every day on top of stuff like that.

This city is no place to raise a family, especially if you have to worry about possibly burying your own children like that. I can't imagine what that child's family is going through right now, and I hope that me nor anyone else will ever have to learn for ourselves exactly what that feels like.

I seriously hate this city...

That sound like a normal day on my country.
We here have a group of people called Colectivos (collectives) that armed thanks to the government "try to stop" the masses that rise against the government.
The worst thing is that they always kill a lot of people, but as they are in favor of government, nothing happen to them.

2538171 That sounds like a damned battleground. Have you ever had a run-in with people like those?

That, my friend, is why me and my family stay away from Detroit if we can help it.
