Dubs Rewatcher once described me as "an intense literary analyst". I describe me as "a room of monkeys with typewriters."

Ending a Writing Session · 5:13pm Sep 25th, 2014

Dear Princess Celestia,

I have often worried that, when I finish a writing session, I can find it difficult to sit back down and start again when the time comes for the next session. Today I found a way around that problem that seems to work with reasonable consistency.

My problem, I think, was that I was writing for sessions that were too long and, by the time I reached the end, I felt that a few minutes wouldn't make any difference and stopped somewhere that felt natural to leave the work, whether that meant finishing early or keeping going for a little while. By restricting my writing sessions to 20 minutes apiece, today I discovered that if I leave the writing in a place that does not feel like a natural break-point I find it an awful lot easier to pick the writing back up when I return after a break. To do this I have been forcing myself to finish exactly when the timer goes off, not a minute earlier or later, and I must admit the trial run has been a total success. I shall keep you updated, but I think I shall be doing this more often in future.

Your faithful student,
Quill Scratch
