You know that feeling... · 3:23am Sep 23rd, 2014
When you're stuck with a good number of stories you want to read (or re-read!) yet feel like you have other commitments that you either want to or need to take care of at the same time, and the resulting opposite forces make you feel like you're being mentally pulled in two (or three, or however many unique other things you feel need to be done at the time)?
Yeah, I got that. In spades.
Doesn't quite help that I'm feeling some amount of writer's block on Stories From the Grave. I mean, I do have the inaugural story already outlined and just have to type that up, but I'm still feeling a little iffy on the specifics as well as not quite feeling the urge to actually type it. Also, I kinda want to have most of the next story outlined yet, and the story I DID have in mind to be 2nd I feel would be better suited going 3rd or 4th or so.
'Tis most vexing a feeling.
"But Voidedstory, why not just start a story anyways?" Well, yeah, I could, but then I'd feel obligated to finish it even if IRL stuff really got in the way. I wouldn't skim it, of course (inasmuch as I'd read for the purposes of the big picture and not try to drown myself in the little details unless I really have to), but the need to finish it would just be a big sticking point in the back of my mind that would never go away until I finish a story, and the desire to start reading a story is much easier to handle.
In other mind-related news/rambling, I wonder what it would feel to literally have a second person in my head? The idea of it is honestly rather interesting and makes me wish it would happen to me. Non-harmfully, of course. Or that I could re-incarnate into someone's head instead and act like a literal conscience or something. *shrug* Oh, well.
EDIT: Plus, most of the stories in my "Read it Later" list, while all looking very interesting, are pretty much either A.) a series of sequels that I need to read in order (and will also feel a huge need to read them sequentially and without much pause) or B.) over 250-300K words. Even for me that's some heavy reading that'd take a couple days, maybe a week.
I know this feels all to well lol.
