Posting the Controversy (also holy crap I got translated!)

So the new chapter of All for You is out, arguably it's seven months late, but yay it's finally out and stuff! It also get in the feature box with the fic for the first time. Admittedly only for a minute or so, but it was nice while it lasted. Go and read it. It's okay if you've not checked it out yet I can wait.

Jolly good, right well I knew this was going to be a tricky one to pull off and judging by the comments not everyone is happy which I'll certainly admit I did expect.

Worse it's all stuff that was planned well in advance and I knew it was a bunch of bullets that had to be bitten eventually to tell the story I wanted to tell.

Of the moments I expected to be controversial the Shining Armour stuff passed by with barely a comment which was a relief. People seemed to quite like Cadance taking down Firebrand so again it's all looking good. Couple of raised eyebrows at the threesome but nothing too major... holding steady, holding steady. Then of course comes the ending and it had to happen for one of them. A couple more dislikes, couple of lost faves (yet still a net gain for the chapter) so that seriously could have been worse.

Thanks guys for bearing with me. I really am going somewhere with this and hopefully I can pull it off. Next chapter should be a whole lot lighter in tone if you're getting heavy fatigue. Should take a hell of a lot quicker to get out too.

Someone actually took the time to translate the fic into Chinese, I also seriously appreciate that they added a few pics to illustrate a few bits towards the end. (I haven't even seen that pic of Trixie in a maid outfit before )

So damn cool.

Sweet, congrats! Maybe Trixie's popular in China. Or maybe your story is just that good. Either or.

(I've been told that she's not too popular in Japan due to her personality clashing with the japanese ideal, though. But then I was told that she is popular there, so I just don't know.)

2462741 I suspect that might have something to do with the terrible decision by the Japanese dubbing in giving Trixie a full on villainous line at the end of Boast Busters which robs her of a lot of lovable ambiguity

Part of the reason it's hard for the audience to get upset about Shining Armor is that he's not that upset about suddenly being a she. Shining's like "Magical accident, happens all the time around her, they'll fix it in a bit" and just goes on with his job. He even alludes to the potted plants incident from Twilight's test, which was fixed pretty quickly. If he was freaking out and screaming, you could bet the audience would find it more disturbing.
As for Cadence taking down Firebrand, while maybe she enjoyed it a bit too much, it's hard for people to be upset at legitimate cases of self-defense (and unlike chapter one, this one didn't feature mind-rape). It was a pretty straightforward: Firebrand was threatening to maim her and planning to brainwash and mutate her. No reason not to blast the changeling.
Threesome... meh. It's been heading that way for a while. Anyone really upset about it already probably quit or braced themselves.

So, it can be hard to predict audience reactions but in retrospect I see why those three slipped by.
