Getting Back to Work · 7:13am Sep 16th, 2014
Okay spent several hours over the last few days breaking in the new laptop, playing Minecraft and a few other games, but it's time to get back to work. I just finished pumping out the first scene for the next chapter of Captain Equestria and I hope to have it to you by the weekend.
Yikes, this is looking to be a very short blog post. Quick think of something to talk about!
Ummm.... Oh I saw the new Godzilla movie and it was Fucking Epic. Not as much monster fighting as I had hoped for, but gotta say, Arron Taylor Johnson has made a full transition from the wimpy nerd, Dave Lizewsky, into the total Bad Ass he'll need to be to play a good Quicksilver. Also, excited to see him and Elizabeth Olson in Avengers: Age of Ultron next year. Both did amazing in Godzilla.
Oh and lets talk about Godzilla for a second. One of my favorite scenes is right before the first monster fight when the Muto knocks a helicopter out of the sky and winds up blowing up a bunch of stuff on a run way. The people in the airport start freaking out as this monster that's about the same height as the building their in starts tearing up the tarmac. But just as the explosions stop Godzilla's foot steps into view. That was not a typo. Forty foot floor to sealing windows and all we see is his fucking foot. The first Godzilla movie I ever saw was that god awful remake with Mathew Broderick, and I'm telling you they did not do justice to the size of Godzilla. This movie is definitely worth the buy.
In other news, my hatred of Marvel's diversification campaign is still stupid. If you're wondering what I mean by that let me explain. Recently in Marvel comics, a few characters have either moved on to other things and taken up a new mantle or are out of the game for now. For example, Kamalah Kahn. A sixteen year old Muslim girl who just recently aquired the ability to change the proportions and shape of her body. She has taken up the mantle of Ms. Marvel. Why? She doesn't have the same powers, she is no way Kree related, she's about to start getting mentored by Wolverine and she hasn't even met her predecessor, Carol Danvers and no the hallucination she had just before getting her powers doesn't count.
The only reason Kamalah is the new Ms. Marvel is because Marvel wanted a muslim super hero, which isn't a problem, but they decided to put her in as a replacement for another hero who's moved on. As if Kamala isn't a good enough character to hold her own story with out leeching off of the fame of a pre-established character. Kamalah actually has the potential to be as good a character as Peter Parker in his prime. She's a teenage solo hero, with her heart in the right place and not a clue how to go about being a hero. She also writes Avengers Fan Fiction. Tell me that's not the greatest thing ever. A hero who's a nerdy fan of heroes. That's gold. Now while I don't appreciate her connection to Carol Danvers, I love Kamalah to death and hope she really goes places.
well that was more than I intended to talk about.
Anyways as always....
Stay Tuned.
My favorite scene was the kiss of death.
