Did I do something wrong? · 3:08am Sep 7th, 2014

Hey.

I was just getting my stuff in order, with almost no free time to write I need to be organized, and while brainstorming my next chapters I started to read the published ones to keep the tones of each fic. I was in the middle of reading TCB: Judgement Day when I noticed something:
Before publishing Innocence (part one):
Likes/Dislikes: 122/18
After publishing Innocence (part one):
Likes/Dislikes: 124/22
And at the moment of writing this entry:
Likes/Dislikes: 126/23

Now, maybe I'm overreacting, but I can't miss the fact that after publishing that last chapter I got four dislikes over two likes in less than a day.

I can't help to think that it's my fault. After all, who else is responsible of the quality of this fic? I understand that maybe the narrative is inferior to it's predecessors, and the focus went from Celestia's inner thought to a more third person perspective than the previous ones. I also understand that it was a bold thing (maybe too much) to call the chapter Innocence, as most of the followers of this fic are expecting Celestia to receive a heavy beatdown for her crimes, putting this chapter's general direction against their wishes. And I know that the flash-back scene felt a little out of place, especially the first person narrator.

With that said, I still don't believe that it was such of a change to receive such a bad reaction. In other words, I don't know where did I do wrong.

But I want to know, I want to understand what happened there to make up for it in the next chapter. I know that I'm not one of this site's best writers, hell, I know that I'm barely a writer at all, but Judgement Day and Stay are the two fics where I put all of myself into keeping a good quality. If one of those got a four dislikes reaction in the publishing date, then I really messed it up somewhere.

So, for those reading The Conversion Bureau: Judgement Day who also want to help me into avoiding another screw up, what you didn't liked about Innocence (part one) and how could I improve the style and set for Innocence (part two)?

Although I haven't read the story, I don't think it's anything to worry about. The number of likes didn't go down. Could of gest been four people browsing stories saw one that was human or TCB and disliked it.

Yeah, kinda of makes sense. Apparently I WAS overreacting, university and pulling Stay's continuation out of development hell got me too sensible. Oops.:twilightblush:

I think the problem might be that people haven't yet heard from the gods who think Celestia is guilty and they think that, from what Shazam said, she'll be found innocent. People are going to want the human race to be avenged and I think that if you do someone who finds her guilty (like Odin) that might satisfy them. Or you could take the 'two endings' route. Your call.

I should add a disclaimer on the second part.
The tittle Innocence wasn't about Celestia being declared innocent, but to illustrate that in comparison with the other gods judging her, even the young ones like Shazam, she's still too naive and mentally innocent.
P.S.: Odin's sword is not just there for decoration.
