Because i love Dark Souls · 11:32pm Sep 2nd, 2014

And because i now have fraps...

and because i felt like showing off...

BUT I LOVE THIS GAME

Anyway, i know i have a few Dark Souls fans amongst my readers, so i thought i'd record a a few things from it. Here i've recorded the absurdly badass two on one boss fight with Ornstein and Smough.

They have weaknesses to elements and other things, but since i've played through the game so many times i prefer to challenge myself. So i did this fight straight up sword and board, no buffs or magic or anything.

Level 45
+10 Claymore, +5 Silver Knight Shield, +7 elite knight armor, boots, and gauntlets.

This is the PC version of the game (obviously with fraps) and i have modified it a little. the obvious being my Elite knight armor has a red tabbard instead of Blue. I have a Master Sword skin for the claymore, an HD graphics modification...... and i've changed the messages that appear on the screen upon beating a boss or lighting a bonfire etc xD.

Well, just felt like sharing, cause i love this game as well as sharing my interests with my fellow readers! Enjoy the epic! (I derp a few times in this vid, but i emerged victorious xD)

Oooh, another video gamer to complain to about the unfairness of the universe because I lose almost every game I play converse with. And even though I have no clue about don't really play Dark Souls, it seems interesting. What console do you usually play games on?

Ah, so it finally loaded the video :rainbowlaugh:

Dark Souls!!!

2423131

PS3 and PC for this game.

Also play Wii U. I'm kind of in love with Mario Kart 8:rainbowwild:

2423199

PRAISE!

THE!

SUN!

2423227 I have PS3,Wii and Wii U, but no PC games.
And YES! When I saw the commercial for MK8, I HAD to get it. :rainbowkiss::raritystarry::twistnerd:
I would get PC games, but a) I'm too lazy, and b) the last one I got crashed my laptop and I had to get a new one.

2423247

yeah the problem with PC games these days is that as they get more advanced, they need more advanced computers to run...

which not everyone is willing to get vs. a console

2423260 And also the fact that my laptop keeps me up late enough as is, let alone add a game to it :rainbowlaugh:

i love dark souls so much

2423305

I've been playing games for a long time...

The last game i played that i enjoyed as much as i enjoyed Dark Souls... was Super Metroid back in 1994...

I nearly cried when i beat dark souls the first time. it had been so long since a game gave me such a fulfilling experience.

really hope dark souls one or two goes on sale on steam soon game looks like a blast

2423659

Dark Souls 1 was better in my opinion.

They fixed some things in 2... but also changed some things that didnt really needed to be changed. It wasn't BAD though, just didnt have the same effect.

Go with 1. It's quite an experience.

2423677 i heard that dark souls one wasn't keyboard & mouse friendly but i assume that there patches for it?

2423735

oh hell it's unplayable with keyboard and mouse. :pinkiesick: Your best bet would be to get an xbox 360 controller.

(i use a ps3 controller, but i had to mod emulate it because using a sony product in a microsoft operating system is lulz:rainbowlaugh:)

Hmm, i may have to reconsider my build.
I prefer light, dex builds, but i think my problem with DS1 is that you can't roll as effective as the second, so I get hit harder and more often. :facehoof:

I found the second easier, kind of... I'm on 3rd play through; And yet on DS1, I'm still stuck on this exact fight...

But this. This motivated to give it an (unknown number) try.
that is if my friend wants to finally get back to his ps3 and join me again... :twilightangry2:

2426475

I'm a medium claymore knight all the way. i only switch up my build for a few later bosses.

whoa... hold up... you have the ps3 version?

so do I! :pinkiehappy: I could totally help you! (on the weekends, my work week is rough) i think i have a document saved at these guys... send me a PM with your PS network info if you wish for some quality assistance :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

Yeah to be honest i felt like dark souls 2 was a bit broken movement wise. They got rid of the loose "human" feel in the way your character moved in favor of a static "robotic" kind of movement. I always preferred how "out of control" i felt with the DS1 movement, it added to the experience.

2426527
Ya, Dark Souls 2 did kind of feel like that. A less realistic, robotic feel as you said; would be a good way to describe it.
you cant really just roll through the blade of a sword and expect to be unscathed... like you could in DS2... you still feel like a badass though! Dragon Rider Twinblade and Vengarls armor all the way for me! :rainbowdetermined2:

But YES! That would be much appreciated if you helped me out! I'm a little over leveled I think for them, lvl57 I believe is where I'm at.
This weekend I'm busy, but next one I'm free. Or any other day if the time so allows.
PSN, same as my username here. All my usernames for anything are always the same, keeps it easy to remember :rainbowlaugh:.
PRAISE THE SUN! :trollestia:

Seems a bit beyond my capabilities to handle something like this... :twilightsheepish:

This game is BRUTAL to new players, but that's half the greatness of it.

The fact that it doesn't hold your hand and forces you to learn and figure out what works for you makes it stand out. You don't so much customize your character as much as the character becomes you over time.

Your character becomes a reflection of you and how you personally would approach the situations you are thrown into. There are nearly endless combat options as well. I've never soon two players fight the same way (you can summon other players to help you). It's quite an experience.

2426568

Yeah i switched up in DS2. i was a lion knight dual Wielding Greatswords :rainbowlaugh:

i found out how to apply buff to both of them as well, so i'd get summoned run in and just absolutely TRUCK some of the bosses :rainbowwild:

I kinda threw defense out the window in DS2 in favor of being a train. I was much more balanced in DS1. I fight with a mix of aggression and patience. (and in demons souls... eh... i just sort of flailed about and somehow managed to beat the game haha. I didnt really figure out how stuff worked in the souls series until DS1. Movement in DS2 kinda reminded me of demons souls.)

In DS1 I tend to halt my characters at level 50 until after i beat Ornstien and Smough and then play through the DLC. (after that i level up till 125ish) so that's perfect. I'll check if i have a character near there i usually do (so i have easy access to the fight cause i LOVE helping people with it.) if not i can get one there real quick. i know so many short cuts and work arounds in the first half of the game (like skipping blight town entirely *shudders*).

This weekend i'll check, if i need to run one through, i'll take care of that so we can jolly cooperate the next (Tuesday and friday my day ends a little earlier we could try for those too.) Then if you want help anywhere else i'll be happy to assist :pinkiehappy:

PRAISE THE SUN!!!!

2427149 It may be an experience, but it simply is not for me. Way too convoluted. :derpyderp1:

2427168
Haha, that is a great picture :rainbowlaugh:
I love helping out in DS2, so many souls! I don't spend my souls very often, i just hoard them, i have like +1M of them... around lvl 200ish. :rainbowdetermined2:
But ya, I get butt whooped in the first. :applecry:
We'll try to plan a more specific time when I get back from this weekend.
Looking forward to our JOLY COOPERATION!
Praise the sun! \[T]/

2428095

Sounds good, we'll keep in touch :rainbowdetermined2:

I love Dark Souls, though I've been distracted by Diablo 3 and Monster Hunter. Still one of my favorite games.:pinkiehappy: Eventually I'll get back to playing it, because I'll be to busy playing Destiny when it come out.

2429036

Destiny has definitely caught my eye. I doubt i'll find time to play it, but i'm interested to hear and see more about it.

I'm such a Dark Souls die hard (pun most DEFINITELY intended :rainbowwild:)

2429583 well they dont call it prepare to die for nothing. The last time I played Dark Souls was a about a week ago and I was going through it with nothing but the Zweihander. That sword is just awesome. One thing that got me super duper excited for destiny was they made a live action trailer for it and in the trailer they play the Immigrant song by Led Zeppline it was hilarious and awesome

2429701

yeah i saw that trailer last night on TV during the football game. "Something classical" *ZEP starts* :rainbowlaugh:

In dark souls i'm usually a claymore knight, but i do take the zweihander out for a spin every once in a while :rainbowdetermined2: I actually use it as my main weapon in new Londo against the darkwraiths and in the giants tomb against the big skeletons. I love smacking them flat to the ground with it. I like calling it my "NO" sword :rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

2429809 I prefer to call my sword the "ZWEEIII-hander" because that's the only thing the pigs have time to say before they're cut down into bacon.
