Considering that I promised a chapter a weekend, and it's now technically the early morning hours of Monday in my area, I think we can all consider this entry a little bit late. Several reasons for this. First off, blah blah real life blah blah. Yeah, nobody wants to hear about my going out and having fun when I should be doing important things like writing. Still, that was a delay. The real issues, though, can be found right here on the site. One of those reasons being that I struck out with another The Proofreader Group editor, which is a shame because this one had worked on several stories I was quite fond of. Secondly, I've been dealing with a bit of a case of the jitters.
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, I'll happily direct you towards InquisitorM's blog. I've been watching him ever since I learned he was personally reviewing each of the Equestria Daily Outsider Insight Contest entries. Just for fun, even. He's not one of the judges. Anyhow, he has a very finely worded speech about troubled authors seeking assistance. As I've been reading the contest entries, and learning just how heavily stacked the competition is, I've been feeling a bit troubled and lacking assistance. There are plenty of ways to describe it, I think I used the term 'stage fright' once, but let's just say that I'm feeling very self-conscious about my writing at the moment.
Hopefully, securing an editor will take care of that little issue. Until then... well, hopefully the struggle I had with pushing myself into writing this chapter doesn't become a trend.
A bit about the chapter... well, it was supposed to be twice as long, involving the field trip that will end up being in the next chapter. The ending feels a little rushed to me, but that's probably because it was past midnight when I wrote it. I was trying to keep Ducky's humor in place while giving her a few more facets to her personality. Did I succeed? I don't know, but I enjoy writing her.
Something personal... well, I just encountered the Mentally Advanced series. I'm not sure why I never watched these videos before. I'm getting more than a few laughs out of them. If you were living under the same rock I was, enjoy. It starts out slow, but the later stuff is fantastic.
It occurs to me that humans require sleep to function. I'd best go do that now. Thanks for reading,
