After seeing some feedback from chapter four of The Marked Ones, I've made a few changes. As of right now, it is still open for the ending I originally had in mind, which is anything but happy. I can also have everything work out for the best, but it will take more than just one more chapter to do so. Chapter Five (Broken) was supposed to be the end, but I cut it short to allow for a decision to be made.
I don't typically do things like this, but if you had the choice, would you want a happy ending or a tragic ending?
I really don't know which one I want. I kind of want a happy ending because Macabre has basically had a shit life and to rub Sunbutt's nose in it.
But I also kinda want to see what Macabre can REALLY do with his special talent.

Why not both? Make two chapters, label one and stick ( Happy Ending) next to it, and label the other one ( Tragic Ending). Then readers can pick, and you can write your original ending even if people wanted the happy feel-good ending.

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me which one you write. All I want is for it to be written well and in accordance with your plans.

Personally, I'm not a fan of multiple endings. I don't like "well, it could be like this." To me, the ending should be the ending: no alternates, no cheap "if you don't like it here's another."
For me, it shows author integrity.

I don't suppose bittersweet is an option? There must be some way to combine the two endings.

Ehhhh, there is. Bitter sweet would still result in the death of one character.
