Who Wants Some Brad? I Know You Do. · 11:11pm Aug 17th, 2014

I got more Brad than you can shake a stick at. I got Brad up the wazoo.

And in this chapter, we learn that there is no curve ball Katie Cook can throw in the comics that I can't incorporate on the fly, because I'm the gosh-darn Brad man. Also, I continue to amuse myself by making dark fantasy references whenever Luna talks about the Dreaming.

Take that Katie Cook! From Hell's heart, Deej stabs at thee!

Actually, this really just proves that I'm making it up as I go.

My only complaint:

About the whole "Sunny Hearts Shadow" thing they did in the comics is how Sombra ended up at the end. In that last panel of him, I would've liked to have seen him being actually evil: petty, nasty, whining and yelling about how this was all Celestia's fault. But once again, maybe I ask too much... :scootangel:

Although:

Now that I think about it, the way the comic ends could lend itself to a Pony version of Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta Ruddigore in which the evil baronet, cursed to perform one evil act a day, likes to get it out of the way early so he can devote the rest of his time to charitable works.

Hmmm... :pinkiecrazy:

Yeah, he didn't seem very evil, but they needed the ending to be touching.

Personally, I still think they should have had him locked in the moon or something instead. The whole "evil substance" thing has some implications that undermine the show's ethos. Discord and Trixie both turned good by repenting, but this makes it look like the ponies could have just hit them with an evil vacuum cleaner instead.

Personally, that comic arc's end felt somewhat like a Deus Ex Machina for me, considering that (unless I missed something) it wasn't at all established that Celestia and Luna were corrupted by some halfway-material evil magic that could be siphoned off to somewhere else.

I agree. To be honest, I've thought most of the comic arcs have wrapped up too quickly and neatly. "Oh, hey, there evil is a magic stuff that can be sucked out of them" should have been established earlier. However, this I do not think is nearly as bad as Nuhfer's end to the Nightmare Rarity arc, in which, having established that the Mane Six couldn't use the Elements of Harmony, she has them use them anyway because she wrote herself into a corner.

And if this is how evil works in the Ponyverse, then punishment of evildoers is unconscionable, since they are not wicked, but ill. They should have sought a cure for evil Sombra in the Crystal Empire instead of blowing him up. (Though admittedly, it could be argued that they were driven to extreme measures; you might have to kill a crazy guy if he's trying to kill you, even if he's not responsible for it.)

Any concept of justice is dependent on the axiom that evil is chosen.

I'm glad you mentioned that, since it was an issue I had with the newest chapter you'd put up before this blog post. Of course, I never got around to commenting on it, so I think I'll try it on the latest chapter, or your last blog post.
