SUPER LONG BLOG POST GO! Chapter 26 Release! · 3:34am Aug 17th, 2014
The new chapter to Equestria: A History Revealed is here! Check it out!
Chapter 26: Movements in the Dark - Canterlot 1969
I'm back from my hiatus! Summer school is done, so I'll be working to get this story finished, edited, and up on the site from here on out! Got my fingers crossed for maybe 2 chapter releases a week.
I usually try to keep a buffer region, so I'm writing a few chapters ahead of my releases. This was originally to ensure that I could stay on top of my releases, but editing and adding the bibliography can be quite the daunting task within itself, so that's slowed my release schedule down quite a bit. That and my busy summer schedules!
I'm currently writing the Discord chapter, and I've still got a lot to cover! I'll be working hard on the story, and I hope you keep on reading!
Also, I was gonna celebrate this when I released the new chapter, but it seems like that milestone has already been passed by a bit. Nonetheless, here's to hitting over 10,000 total chapter views!

There's a lot of stuff I want to add, so this may be one of the longer blog posts of mine. Mostly stuff about the fic and the chapter itself. If you're interested, keep reading!
As you may know, I always try to make sure the story follows canon. However, the show itself has media of dubious canon; the only thing that's clearly canon is the show. Things such as the comics and books can be treated in their own way (I know some ignore the comics as non-canon, etc.)
However, in this fic, I will be treating the comics as canon, especially as it does fit within history. So this Second Battle of Canterlot is actually based off a short recollection of Celestia in issue #8 (Princess Celestia) of the micro series. Although I suppose once I introduced things such as the Nightmare forces into the fic, most of you already knew that the comics would be treated as canon. I'm looking to incorporate as many forms of MLP material into the story that follow history as possible, as long as they don't directly contradict the show or something. And I thought the Canterlot battle in issue #8 fit well in everything, so it's in the fic!
Funny story about the Second Battle of Canterlot, it always seems as though I initially think these battle chapters are gonna be rather short, but they end up being some of the longer ones of the fic. (If you can believe it, I was initially worried that I wouldn't have enough stuff to write for Chapter 21.) Well technically this chapter isn't that long compared to some of the Civil War ones, but it's still wayy more than I expected to write on the topic. I thought there wouldn't be much to cover at first, but then the words and ideas just keep coming. And I feel like when that happens, it's good just to let it flow.
And we get our first direct Season 4 reference here! I'm sure there were a few in there in previous chapters (especially in the Civil War), but this is as direct as it's gonna get!
Obviously, as this essay is supposed to cover Equestria's past history, Season 4's world building is always taken into consideration. But going off the setting and time frame of the fic, Loose Change completed her essay in the summer of 2013, and therefore the events of Season 4 can't exactly be covered.
Nonetheless, as Season 4 covers a lot of ground from the past, that stuff will be addressed (as you probably have seen, what with the details behind the princess' confrontation in the Civil War matching with Season 4's pilot). What I'm trying to say here is that while the fic will remain Season 4 compliant, it's being written from the point of view of a pony during the Season 3 hiatus, so the actual events of Season 4 haven't occurred yet.
I might cover more on the reasons for this later, but for now, as the description says, the story will cover up to the rise of Princess Twilight. While Season 4 will still have a strong presence in the fic (especially because it has many ties to the past), just don't expect any coverage of the present Season 4 events (eg. the weed attack, Tirek's return). But rest assured that those things will be covered in their own way (to ensure this fic is S1-S4 canon compliant).
Loose Change kind of had a little outburst near the end there, but it'll make sense as time goes on. Let's just say that the next chapter's gonna be quite the doozy. Look forward to it!
I'm also very excited, for the next chapter will be the start of covering stuff more present in the show! Ish. In a way it kinda does, but not in a direct episode-by-episode kinda way. But if you've been waiting for the coverage of the show, this is the starting chapter you definitely don't want to miss!
