Lore: Pony Days of the Week - Ghost of a Rose lore · 3:57am Aug 15th, 2014
So, because ponifying things and adding a little lore into things is something I like to do, here's something that I created for Ghost of a Rose. It's not a huge thing in the story, mostly touched on just a little bit during the early parts of the story and during later parts of the story, but only as time references. In order to keep these small things consistent, I came up with this little chart.
Please note that the weather is only the normal, what the bureaucracy says it's supposed to be like weather for that day. It doesn't mean that odd things won't happen, or there aren't bits of chaos here and there throwing things off. The Everfree forest clouds will sometimes come in and cause problems with the normal weather pattern.
Rainday is usually a heavier rain than Wetday - which is normally just a drizzle - enough to get things wet. Rainday is also the day that ponies get their rain barrels filled - usually by special order - a heavy raincloud will be dropped into place over the rain catch-barrels and fill them over the course of the rainstorm.
Marketday is usually when the best deals are. It's just kinda been that way for a while. Merchants trying to get rid of stock before the heavy rain on Rainday turns roads into mires. Sunday is usually the sunniest and least cloudy day of the week.
This is just a little tidbit of information and detail that went into the story. If you all would like, I can get together some more lore, clean it of spoilers, and post it here.
Possible lore items:
The Mirror Pool
Earth pony magic
Hearts and Hooves day: Three Rose Crown contest
Different kinds of roses - Lover's Promise, Winterbloom, Adder's Nest (not in story)
Stamps across Equestria - exploring the stories behind stamps and the postal service.
This is pretty cool. I've actually never seen anything like this before, but it makes an awful lot of sense.
you know it's canon that equestria use's the same days as us, in the time travel episode twilight said, "I'm from next tuesday."

Well, Unicorns may, at least. Why wouldn't earth ponies have a slightly different way of looking at the week? One more focused on the practical and things related to growing. Marketday is not an exception. Grown goods still need to be sold. Kinda like a farmer's market.
I understand what you're saying though. Still... I do like my unique bits of lore and touches that I leave in the stories I write. It helps me make them a little bit more mine.

Glad to hear it's interesting. Coming up with little things like this makes me happy and makes... well, like I said to Timelord, makes it feel like the story is more mine. That, and using characters that have practically zip for canon characterization (and one that has no fanon characterization) helps me feel like I'm doing something unique.
Yeah, this makes a lot of sense. Humans call Wednesday Hump Day, so why couldn't earth ponies have informal names for the days?
