Last-Minute Alterations

Dear Princess Luna,

Today I learned that a double-release was literally the worst idea ever.

Okay, so maybe I deserved to have to do something stupidly stressful to make up for the recent lack of updates and to give me a good boot up the backside to get me writing again, but a double-update is a silly, silly idea. I have never been so exhausted of editing, so tired that even in the last minutes before uploading that I was still spotting typos (I do hope I caught them all) and so generally sick of Plans Change that I would spend half an hour reading through the first 200 words of Pinkie's Wake (which is all I have managed to write of that monstrous fic so far) just to confirm that all the carefully-crafted linguistic craziness was, in fact, working.

I have never loved fanfiction more.

Don't get me wrong, the experience has still been hellish. But experiences are so much more fun with pressure and impossible deadlines, and even if the work you produce isn't your best (I'm proud of chapter six, but chapter seven could probably do with a once-over again) you can still have an awful lot of fun writing it. And, despite my general aim of improving as a writer and hopes of one day writing something that is worth reading, isn't that really what this whole fanfiction business is really about?
