Once in a Lifetime and HiE · 2:59am Aug 6th, 2014
Alright, I took vacation to Equestria and went on an adventure to find my old editor. (Jk, we just talked while I was on vacation and he said he might try writing a HiE fic.)
While I was gone, I decided to try some HiE fics before posting more of the other stories. I posted Once in a Lifetime with the intent of a transition. This is how I feel the transition went.
Once in a Lifetime:
First: The story arouse while I was reading Griffin the Griffin on vacation. (All good writers find time to read, after all, how else did we start writing?) The idea of a human entering equestria was new, but a thought came after a mention that the world was changing. If humans, any number of them, came to equestria, wouldn't there be some change, no matter how small? Some might say that it won't change much, but just from the ponies meeting them has created a rip, where the ponies will be curious as to his nature. Of course, this is usually filled with violence. Be honest, don't the best HiE fics involve violence? I was going to make the story itself as just a blog, but decided quickly that this would be a good transition.
Next: Writing the story was pretty easy, however I focused mainly on the 'I don't want to change' aspect of my thoughts, and left out some of the 'I don't want to set in stone how equestria really is' because I felt it had more of an impact with the first suggestion. I wrote this right after coming back from vacation, becuase I wanted to start working on the other HiE I have planned as fast as possible. (While still getting my win of the day bonuses on League) . It took me about an hour and a half to write, with thirty min. of revision. Normally it would take longer to write, and therefore edit, but it felt easier today. Maybe this is a good sign for when I write the other HiE fics?
Finally: The outcome of the story was what I intended, more or less. It was originally going to be a blog, so I think that changing it into a story was a success. I posted it earlier today, but from the looks of the responses it did moderately well. As I write this, it has 2 likes, 2 dislikes, but I like it enough that I don't care much about the dislikes. As for continuing it, I've thought about it, but the point of the story was the message, and later the transition it provided. If I get the motivation and time to finish it, I might give it a try, but right now it feels like it'd be just another HiE story. For me, it has to stick out to mean something.
My editor got a look at it... still waiting for a response. Maybe he's too busy writing and doing something productive....
Nah
As for the other fics I have planned,
My editor told me about the Villainous stories, and even though I haven't read any of the stories he was referring to, I think I might try writing one.
I have another story planned as well, but the only way I can describe it is: Idiot comes to Equestria and the locals hate him. Sounds similiar to a lot of stories, so we'll see how it turns out.
Also If you didn't notice, I do one of these story review things after all of the stories that finished.
For you dedicated people that are still reading... all two of you, I've held back on the Burn the Nest a little longer.
Reason: Because I went on vacation and I may or may not have forgotten to take the files with me. Long story short, HiE fics are peaking my interest more right now. Deal with it.
