The strange thing about this site. · 10:47pm Jul 28th, 2014
Stories tend to get more favorites than likes (The Unfaithful Student is an example of this). But why aren't the number of favorites displayed just as easily? Do they count towards the popularity of the fic? If so, to what degree? If not, why not?
Anywho, loves are loves.
People who favorite, but don't upvote do so because they want to see how the fic will progress after the first chapter. They get updates whenever a new chapter is posted. It happened to me with the first multi-chapter story I wrote.

Makes sense, but still, if it was for that purpose, why isn't it called 'Watch' instead of 'Favorite'?

Beat me to it. Basically this. Think of favorites as potential likes in the future if you keep the story going good.
2323957 Honestly, I have no idea. It will forever be a mystery to me.
There's not a lot of rhyme or reason to it. The "Favourites" and "Read Later" lists also overlap considerably in actual, if not intended, scope.
That's happened to me, too. I have 13 faves and counting in my first one.
