Sonic Boom · 6:41am Jul 26th, 2014
So, I've been hearing a lot about this whole "Sonic Boom" thing which is supposed to be some sort of reboot/spinoff/reimagination/whatever of the Sonic Franchise. Some fans are excited, some are reacting the "True Sonic Fan" way and screaming "Ruined FOREVER!!!"
Me? Well, I used to be a Sonic fan. As if the "Prower" part of my username wasn't an obvious nod to Miles "Tails" Prower. That's one of the few things I've kept from that time. Honestly, I don't dislike Sonic or anything. It's just that the fanbase, as mentioned above, is, well... Fed up.
...No, seriously. The Sonic fandom is probably the most fed up fandom I have ever seen. Honestly, I feel that all negative human experiences can be summed up in one way or another by the Sonic fandom.
Still, I have to admit the games and show look interesting enough, so I might end up giving it a try. Also, this new "Sticks" character is adorable, even if she looks like Marine's long-lost sister.
Seriously, just look at her.
So, to any Sonic fans out there: If I decide to get back into your fandom, can you promise me you'll try to be nice so I can actually enjoy the games and shows? Can you promise me that there is at least some good in your collective hearts?
I saw the redesigns a while back. I liked them! I only didn't really like Knuckles' redesign, but I can live with it. As for Sticks the Badger, she certainly looks tough, especially with that boomerang. Decent design, too. Never did like Marine too much, BTW, she got on my nerves.

I don't mind the redesigns myself (though the gratuitous sports tape they're all wearing is kind of pointless), but as for Knuckles... well, I've always thought that Sonic Unleashed would've been a more interesting game if they'd ditched the day/night stages and replaced the Werehog with Knuckles, only with less stretchy arms and more gliding and climbing. It seems that SEGA has somehow read my mind, because now we have Knuckles the Werehog!
At the very least, SEGA is finally experimenting with/bringing back Sonic's friends as playable characters. Regarding Marine, I've never played Sonic Rush Adventure, but I did just finish watching a charity stream of the game. Beyond Marine the Raccoon, it seems that game's biggest problem is that they took the worst part of the LoZ games Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass (the boring, utterly monotonous sailing across the ocean just to look for shit) and padded their game with it.
2373840 The sports tape is actually useful because it helps protect their hands and feet from injury. At the speeds Sonic travels, he needs it! His scarf actually also helps by preventing windburn on his neck, since WWI pilots would wear scarves for protection.
But, yeah, Tails, Knux and Amy as playables again is awesome!
