Sky Full of Stars, the PMV of the Earworm · 12:38am Jul 25th, 2014

So the Kiwi radio stations are playing Coldplay's Sky Full of Stars to death - which personally I might purchase as a single, it'd make a nice euphoric club tune - and my imagination grew hooves.

For some reason I'm seeing a video for it. It starts with a girl in a hospital bed - possibly the oncology ward. It's late, and she's nodding off, as the camera closes on her worn face, surrounded by her favourite cartoon franchise and a big deep blue plushie.

Then her eyes pop open and turn to the window.

Luna is there, in all her alicorn glory. The window is wide open, and the stars shine brightly beyond.

The girl sits up. Her assorted sensor wires, feeding tubes, breathing tubes, drainage tubes - gone. Her face is now a mask of wonder as she tentatively reaches out a hand to touch the Princess of Night. Runs a hand through her coat.

Luna just smiles, and sweeps her up onto her back with one wing. Turns to look back with a grin on her face, before taking a standing leap out of the window and into the sky.

A sky full of stars. Stars all around. So high that the city below is all stars. Hitch a ride on a comet and run your hand through the stars - they fizz and sparkle and laugh along with the happy free laughter of a little girl who for one night, this one glorious night, is free of sterile smells and doctors and beeping and parents with fake brave faces.

Now cut to inside the window, as the music winds down. Luna looks in, her smile left behind, framed by pre-dawn light. Looks upon nurses carefully removing sensors and tubes. Upon two adults attempting to comfort each other as they watch the sheet being drawn up over a too-small head.

Another head peers out from under Luna's wing. A filly, with an oddly familiar mane and face. She looks in the window without really understanding.

Luna gazes down, and gently leads her away. The princess takes one last look back, eyes wet, then takes Equestria's newest citizen home.

Fade out.

Oh, I like that. I like that very, very much.

Why not turn that into a full short-story?

2314294 I couldn't do it any more justice.
