A Pox Upon Friendship One!

Pretty much before the inevitable conclusion of BRBrony9's tragic science fiction story Friendship One, I was already getting the mad idea to start a more upbeat version, this one involving the arrival of the Lakon Diamondback Explorer Stay Back! I Have Lurgi!. Something to do with that commander having the misfortune to witness that star's collapse at far too close range.

I have a text file somewhere of notes regarding Brewer Corporation, the difference between Coriolis and Orbis starports, and vague thoughts involving how the hay they're going to handle the machinations of the Empire, Alliance, Federation and other interested parties.

After all, evacuating an entire planet, even with frame shift drives capable of pushing something kilometres across, from one star to another, takes time. And credits. Lots and lots of credits. You think five billion for a vanilla Drake class fleet carrier is a lot? That's peanuts compared to just a vanilla Coriolis...

So do they go it alone, or go into a loan, or get tangled up in whatever powerplays are occurring these days?

...dang, now I feel like strapping in and heading out into the black again. Mind the toast rack...
