    Greetings from Lenovo-Land

Lenovo-Land, aka Rowan University (where most of us have lenovos since they'll service them for free, with some restrictions, since the school network uses lenovo computers and thus they have the tech center certified for them), had it's freshman move-in today. I'm in a double that's been converted to a triple and classes start on Tuesday. So I'll try to get things done over the next several

    Home sweet home?

Life seemed content to throw problems at us before we left on vacation, namely the power outages. Irritating and inconvenient, but survivable. Unfortunately, life had more waiting for us when we got home. Namely a plumbing leak that caused some seemingly superficial damage. Oh, and an active shooter in town.

    Vacation

This week is our family vacation to duck, and available time will be limited.

I apologize for the informative delay; but the power was out before we left (second time in one week; fuck you JCP&L), and the Internet here was rather uncooperative (and still is somewhat uncooperative).

Stories I will & won't edit. · 3:10am Jul 16th, 2014

Status/Schedule: See this blog.

I'm currently NOT accepting editing requests. Be aware that I'm not an avid watcher of the show, but I keep up with the canon (researching as needed) and, of course, read a lot of stories here. It has yet to cause any issues.

Credit (in story description and/or authors notes for chapters edited) is appreciated , as are honest reviews and feedback (should you have found me via the proofreader group, send a copy of the review there too if you'd like). If you think I did poorly, tell me why so I can address it instead of repeating it.

Currently Editing/Proof-Reading/Pre-Reading: Outdated Section
Fallout: Equestria: Towards the Future by Acespadez1134*
Mad World by Acespadez1134*
Fallout Equestria: Frozen Skies by Relentless (As of ch. 3)
Deadspace Equestria: The CMC Sparkle by Ravencrofte
Ashes of a Phoenix by Thrawn [Unpublished]
Fallout Equestria: Rising Dawn by Interloper (As of ch 12)
Fallout Equestria: Sweet Child of Mine by Salted Pingas
Fallout Equestria: Hidden Enemies by Zantetsuken

*Primarily for spelling. All stories now get a complete, thorough editing for all elements of the story.
†Cancelled for the foreseeable future at 50k (of an estimated 300k on my part) due to circumstances beyond the author's control, which forced him to withdraw from the writing and fimfiction in general.

Formerly Edited/Proof-Read/Pre-Read (Completed or otherwise):
Crystal's Wishes by Crystal Wishes (Ch. 27 - 46; editor no longer required.)
Feedback by RQK (Started halfway though, with a mix of pre-and-post-publish editing; Completed.)

Other:
My Little Fortress: Shadytrails, an ongoing roleplay also being published as a story. See the story page for more information.

What I require in a story:

-It can't be a nihilist story!

-Length: I don’t like editing oneshots, nor would I like a string of related oneshots. Each chapter can't be a standalone.

-Tone: the story plot must be serious, though I'm flexible on it.

-No HiE. I don’t like editing most Human in Equestria stories. Don’t let it deter you from asking since they’re not all bad, but it increases chances of rejection. Less so for ponified humans, one who aren't aware of the show, or ones not from present day Earth.

-No plotless clopfics. It's acceptable so long as it moves the plot along.

-No rhyming protagonists or main party members! If half the story is going to by rhymes, I'm not editing your story. I can handle a limited amount of it without a problem, though.

-English! I'm only fluent in English. With the exception of a Latin saying every now and then I don't want to see it. (I still remember some of my latin class, though most of the vocabulary is long forgotten)

-Don't be afraid to request again if you've decided to write another story, even if past ones were rejected.

When asking me to edit a story, please give me the following:

-Others working on the project. The more you can give me on who they are the better (Co-author, editor, prereader, or a proofreader; as well as what they’d be identified as in GDocs and on Fimfiction. It’s ok if you don’t tell me until after I accept, but it’s nice to know everyone I’m working with).

-Anything already written (drafts).

-Final Length Estimate (I do not work with short stories).

-Planned sequels.

-What it’s canon to (MLP Season, other story universes, anything it’s crossed over with).
>Should it be in a storyverse, please specify if you’re the author of the main story of the universe or a sidefic author.

-Plot Details; I need more than a war between X and Z where the protagonist is Y. I need what the path of the story will be. Will the main character fall in love with the/an enemy? Will he be crippled and swear for revenge? Does he have meaningful others in his life? Will he be captured? On top of that, it’s important to know what’s going on the the protagonist doesn't know about, including who wins the war.

-Technological state of Equestria (and other nations when applicable).

-Any character accents for dialogue.

Have the following in mind:

-Be prepared for a lots of Questions! That normally means I'm interested, or at least willing to help you with ironing out a plot before being written. You may, however, just get a rejection. Don't take it personally. I simply don't like all stories/crossovers, and it doesn't mean it’s bad.

-You’ll get both pre and proof-reading when you bring me in.

-Be sure any other editors you have are ok with working as a team.

-It's your story, not mine. I'm perfectly fine with some rejection as far as suggestions go, especially if it's a RP or crossover.

-Questions, Clarification, & Speculation: I will ask on potentially significant points, even if it's an obvious answer, it's better to be sure. Speculation is usually made to poke at the bigger picture to see if there's a way to better tie them together or fill holes before they happen (If a story were a dungeon, it would be akin to better hiding the secret passage from the vault to the entrance). The three (speculation especially) will become less frequent as I better learn how you write and do plot design.

What I'll change in editing:

-Grammar, syntax, and spelling.

-Flow; if a sentence, paragraph, or scene doesn't flow well, I’ll try to at least make note of it, if not suggest ways to fix it.

-Contractions; if you avoid them like the plague I'll probably change that, because it sounds terrible without them. If there is a character with a unique speech pattern (use of "y'all" for you (plural), or not using acronyms, etc, etc), I’ll keep that in mind. I normally use the suggestions feature for dialogue and other things unless it’s just an obvious typo.

-Word usage. If a word doesn't really fit, expect me to point it out.

-Canon. If I see something that doesn't seem right with (primarily in crossovers) what I've researched in the canon, I’ll double check that and if it doesn’t work expect me to point it out.

-Plot and characters: If I see potential holes, flaws, or improvements in either I'll bring it up.

Remember, the worst I can do is to decline to edit your story—don't be afraid to ask.

Nihilism is terrifying. Holy shit. :rainbowderp:

-No absolutely terrifying stories (slashers included). I've yet to read more than one scene terrifying enough to make me not want to edit it

Must be a good thing you didn't edit Chapter 11 then ...

2650329 I may or may not have added that after reading that. :scootangel:

Some things are pretty unpleasant read the second, third, or twelfth time before you see a definite respite from it.

On a related note, I should change that to two now, since another author wrote a nice terror scene. Though it *was* a trip through hell, so it wasn't too bad since the story was complete.
