I'm baffled. I have a story i want to tell, but i'm running into brick walls with my ability to tell it. It's quite frustrating. Maybe i should write the whole thing out, then worry about editing later?
I have some people telling me to add more detail to certain scenes while other say chop them out completely. I guess i'm finding out first hand you can't please everyone. Maybe i should try to just to tell my story as best i can, taking criticism and applying it in the future instead of trying to retrofit every comment i get and new thing i learn. I would make more progress at least...
But if i take that approach will anyone keep reading to the later chapters when things improve? Should I end this story early and save my good ideas for later when I've worked out all of the kinks?
I feel i have the story, the capacity to learn, and the motivation to put together something great, i'm just not sure who i should be trying to learn from...
If i spend all my time editing and re editing the same 3 chapters will anyone be interested when i finally publish or will they be so sick of proof reading my stuff that they'll be sick of it?
Thank you blog, you've helped me think this through. I'll tell the story the way I want and take the criticism i feel is most fitting. I'll rewrite what i want and have a product i'm happy with at the end. I can always tweak things later. If anyone else enjoys my story, all the better. If not, at least i'll have done something i can look back on.
