So, apparently, I have a Feminine Brain · 3:50am Jun 25th, 2014
To make a long story short, I was incredibly bored this afternoon after both my new job and doing some writing. Out of utter curiosity, I ended up finding a very unique test online that determines whether your brain falls on the Masculine or Feminine spectrum. Unlike other internet quizzes that judge based on tired stereotypes, this was based on several studies conducted by BBC Science & Nature. After spending about a half-hour or so on a bunch of very random questions that required a lot of thinking and measuring, I ended up with this here result:
According to science, I am a man, but I think more like a woman. TBH...
And I shouldn't have any reason to be. Yes, before you start filling up the comments with certain questions, I do identify as a heterosexual male; I am perfectly comfortable with this, as well as these test results. I don't have a problem with having similarities to women, simply because I don't think there is anything wrong with being a woman.
There shouldn't be anything wrong with showing empathy, sensitivity or compassion, even if you are a guy. The problem is, our culture has told men that showing these emotions is a sign of weakness and that it won't get you anywhere. While assertiveness and competitiveness are not bad traits to have, I find it appalling that people devalue any positive traits that are considered traditionally feminine. The purpose of traits are to define an individual's personality and what kind of things they are best at.
For example: the test also found that I'm a right brain thinker, and am more likely to excel in visuality and arts, rather than math, science and dynamics. This also connected to my higher than the average male scores in areas such as empathy, word usage, and identifying emotions based on eye contact; these were test areas that women were shown to do very well in. Now, if I force myself to abandon all this and try to go for more traditionally male thinking, then do you think I'll be truly happy or fulfilled with what I'm doing? Of course not, because it won't be natural.
Moral of this post: Thinking is never limited to just a certain gender. We're all uniquely shaped pieces, who fit in our own places in the jigsaw puzzle that creates the world. No one should feel ashamed for being a little different.
The test can be found here, if you would like to see for yourself. What kind of brain do you have?

I scored exactly 50 male. Huh...
After eliminating faulty results as a product of either personal error or bad testing, I am female but leaning toward neutral. Which doesn't tell me much except that I am quite fluent and very good at rotating things in my head, a truly valuable skill.
2232341 I had trouble with the rotating section. But I think that's what really makes the test unique, because it shows how each individual is different. Both masculine and feminine traits are very valuable skills to own, and I think we all own a fair share, one way or the other.
