For me, it was actually two days combined into one because I didn't sleep because I wanted to challenge FamousLastWords' story Every Day Is Beautiful. He decided to enter his story for some competition I've never heard of. Naturally I took one look at the due date and realized that I really wanted to write something. Like a deep-seated primal hunger kind of really. Like one of those "Aww you know what I'm really craving right now? Some doritos with the cheese and chive dip. Aww yeah, give me some of that shit!". Like one of those urges that writers get to write occasionally.

So I went ahead and wrote a story. Now, see I normally write 300 words in a day because I write at a pace of 300 words an hour, and I usually only dedicate an hour a day to actual writing (If I've ever said any more, I lied and instead I was reading fanfics or perusing Fimfiction rather fiercely). Either way, today I decided to do the old dedicate-an-entire-fucking-night-to-writing—something I haven't done in several months now. That seems to be the best way for me to get anything done these days. Either way, I gave myself twenty-four hours to write a oneshot. I set my target at 1006 words, just so I could laugh that I'd written more than FamousLastWords.

Well, I guess I did write more than FamousLastWords.

I just couldn't help myself…

So anyway, What's the fic I'm actually on about? Well, it's a fic called Telling 'Shy.

Rainbow Dash is somehow dating Dumbbell. She isn't quite sure how that really happened, but everything's been going just peachy. The only problem is how exactly she's going to tell Fluttershy that she's dating the same pony who made her foalhood a misery?

And it's not actually really a story about the ship at all. It's actually a story about telling Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash's best friend. Because I believe that friends are one of the important things in a relationship. I've had relationships completely ruined because we had the wrong friends. Friends are really important in any situation, and romance is included among them. What's more is that I got to explore friendship in a way that I rarely explore. I don't ship FlutterDash at all. In fact, I'm very much of the opinion that they should remain friends.

But friends like this. Because this is what a best friend is to me. Yeah we can argue and cry and get angry at one another, but at the end of the day, we can just bring it in for a hug because we're only looking out for each other, and never for ourselves.

And that's the best bit about a best friend. You never have to worry about yourself, because you know they're already looking out for you.
