I know I've been away from here for quite awhile, and I'm sure none all of you are concerned. Well basically I've left the fandom. I've just become disinterested with it. It happens, whatever.... The reason for me reaching out to people here is a concern that I feel interests many here.
Illiteracy.
Just perusing through 80% of the stories here and it becomes apparent that it is indeed an issue. And as someone who has been to multiple countries and has worked with people from all over the United States I can tell you it isn't just one age group. And what better way to fight literacy than to promote reading, and the best time to encourage reading is when people are young.
I love reading; whether it's the crappy stories here, The Art of War, Sword Art Online the LN, or web-comics, reading has been an intricate part of my life. When I think back through my life in what caused this yearning for the written word, I always think of Reading Rainbow. So when I saw that my hero LeVar Burton started a Kickstarter to bring RR to schools for free I jumped at the chance to contribute.
So if you love reading as much as I do and feel that everyone should have a chance to be shown the incredible world that is books I ask that you share this with all the followers that you have and that I lack, and even contribute yourselves. Because everyone should have access to the many worlds that books open up to us...
...But don't take my word for it.
P.S On the grounds that I must have something humorous in all my blogs here's some fun info: Fireflies use bioluminescence to attract mates. So in the MLP world when they use firefly lanterns it's actually a huge firefly orgy.
