    Across the generations

Something happened earlier this week that got me thinking.

Even though I have all of G4 on my computer and can watch any part of it any time I wish, back on monday on a whim I clicked on the official MLP stream on youtube. I found myself dropped into the middle of Magical Mystery Cure, just before A True True Friend started playing, and I watched through to the end of the episode.

Yesterday, no less a personage than Neil Gaiman graced my burg with his presence. He held a book signing for the release of the Norwegian translation of Fortunately the Milk, a book I didn't know existed until I saw the posters for the signing a week ago. I ended up reading it in one sitting last night before I went to bed. It was brilliant.

As it turns out, the book has some pretty blatant references to MLP in it. I squeed.

Well, this was the Norwegian translation of the book, so unless by chance you can read Norwegian, the lines in question wouldn't mean much. But at one point, brightly-colored talking ponies with long sparkly manes and pictures on their flanks show up, and are described as being "very smart".

Well, I've got a new entry on my reading list.

It's a children's book, and easily read in an hour, but it was great.
