Princesses Ranking, Version 2 (Post Season 4) · 2:59pm May 20th, 2014
Just like last time here's the link to the original version. let's see what changed after an additional season.
4. Princess Twilight Sparkle
Why she stayed the same: Despite the Season 4 opener and finale addressing some of our concerns and questions it's still too early to know what sort of a princess Twilight will be. Season 5 will probably be the big indicator, though it looks like this decision may not have been a wise one on Hasbro's part after all.
3. Princess Luna
Why she stayed the same: This season acknowledged more of Luna's insecurities, and brought back her dreamwalking abilites from "Sleepless in Ponyville". In the end, Princess Celestia, for once, actually overshadowed Luna, despite Luna getting an episode to herself. I think it's safe to say that she'll visit Apple Bloom's dreams in Season 5 (unless the DHX staff pulls a fast one on us). At least she finally got a song though.
2. Princess Cadence
Why she moved down: Cadence finally got the character so many fans said she lacked, and considering the fact that I was one of her supporters I should be happy that most of her critics were silenced. And yet, I think they overdid it with Cadence's development. Saying that life in The Crystal Empire has gotten boring, that kind of sounds like an insult to Shining Armor, by implying he can't keep Cadence entertained. Add to the fact that she had more screen time then him and it seems almost as if Shining Armor is a throwaway character after all. I get that the DHX staff wanted to probably help Cadence's toy sell better, but they probably should've thought through the character development a little more, just to ensure they weren't implying anything mean.
1. Princess Celestia
Why she moved up: The flashbacks in "Princess Twilight Sparkle Part 2" finally helped to strike down all those tyrant Celestia critics, by showcasing not only the tough decisions she made in the past, but also the quilt she still has for the banishment of her sister. And on top of that, the Season 4 finale explained a lot of why she specifically did things such as get Discord reformed. Yes, she still ended up not being a lot of help against new threats, but I think it should be obvious by now that Celestia truly IS the kind of leader other leaders should strive to be.
And there you have it.
I don't know if I would say Cadence meant she was bored in the Crystal Empire I think she just meant ruling it was getting a little day to day so to speak, although I would think preparing for the crystal games would add a little more excitement to the job, I would think that the crystal ponies are a very obedient bunch so to speak and rarely try to break the limits so to speak, the crystal ponies are perfectly happy living average day to day lives because let's not forget they were imprisoned by an evil king for then vanished for a thousand years so I would think they would like a little normal so to speak. Also let's remember that Cadence only recently took over the empire so I think that she was just expecting ruling an entire kingdom to be a little more exciting then it is.
