Remember, almost a year ago, when I said I'd try not to take so long with my next story? That was a pretty funny joke, wasn't it? Hahahaha... heh... ughhh...
Honestly, I'd be surprised if any of you remember me at all. You probably saw this blog post and thought, "What despicable creature is this that lurches forth across my feed?"
I could try to make excuses for my absence. I could tell you how I spent the better part of last year unemployed (which you'd think would be great for writing, but which actually sucks on your soul, and just makes you feel useless and awful). I could tell you how, when I did get a job, it was a rather exhausting one that slits my inspiration's throat as a blood offering upon the altar of responsibility. I could further mention that my computer took a trip to Hell last fall, taking all of my project files with it, and liked it so much that it decided to stay there for good.
I didn't want to be gone. I like writing. And on top of that, I've been enjoying the bejeezus out of season four.
So, I'm happy to announce, to those of you who still care, that I'm back.
First and foremost, I have a new story written. I'd like to give it one more read-through, but I hope to have it up tomorrow in honor of the season four finale.
Just a disclaimer: This story is pretty much straight-forward clop. I usually try to avoid this. I'd much rather write a story with an actual plot (yes, that kind too), wherein the sex is symbolic or indicative of the characters' growth. Judging by the comments left on my first two stories, this is what most of you guys liked about my writing so far. So much so, in fact, that the sexual elements seem almost secondary (which I don't mind, though I hope it's not because the sex is boring [I'm still not 100% confident on the sexiness of my pseudo-sexy pseudo-philosophizing]). This time, however, it's mostly just sex. I needed something simple to get me back into the groove of writing, and the idea for the ending was too good to pass up. Though, to my negligible credit, I did manage to weasel in some ontological hijinks. I don't know how it'll be received, but hopefully you guys will enjoy reading it as much as I (mostly) enjoyed writing it.
In other news, I have some other things planned as well. Chief among them is a longer, multi-chapter story that I'm really jazzed about. It'll be closer in tone to "A Single Step", so hopefully that's something to look forward to. I hope to have the first chapter up before the end of the month.
AND, at some point I'd like to set aside a month - July, maybe - in which I'll try to write one story a week (probably shorter, simpler stories, but still). This might not be much of a challenge for some authors, but some authors aren't lazy as balls.
With that, I'll take my leave. Feel free to kick my ass a little. It might keep me motivated.
tl;dr - Sorry I've been MIA, happy to be back, more clop-fodder on the way.
We've been there. I've been there, at least.
Glad to see you back.
