Yes, I know, I promised in my last blog post you'd see a Silver Spoon-centered oneshot. Well, SURPRISE! The concept for "Shouldn't I Be on the Couch?" has been rattling around my brain since last summer, and only now have I taken the time to write it out. I think it's absolutely criminal that Discord wasn't in Equestria Girls--the writers missed a golden opportunity for more comedy in that movie. He would have made a brilliant school counselor, no?
How can you resist that fabulous face?
That being said, I also think Twilight and Discord have among the most entertaining character chemistry I've seen on this show. The Season 4 premiere featured post-reformation Discord exactly as I'd imagined (as well as how I characterized him here): a still chaotic devil's advocate who isn't so much evil as mischievous. The way he convinced Twilight to go after her friends and how he questioned if she deserved her princess-hood was precisely what she needed to set herself back on the right track. That's what I hoped to do with my new oneshot, but place it in a sort of "deleted scene" from Equestria Girls. I think it would have given the movie more sanity, ironically enough.
We're not going to discuss "Three's a Crowd" right now. That whole episode made me explode with good vibrations.
