    Letter of Destiny, advanced concept

Recently, a friend of mine became fascinated with my book series Maledictum Insania and read all of them through pretty quickly. He became particularly curious what my alternative storyline would have been if I had ended up choosing the ending Letter of Destiny from the first book as the base for the rest of the story. Eventually, he got me thinking about this series again which I considered done

    The end is coming

After about 7 years of writing, it is finally happening. The Maledictum Insania series is almost completed.
I am on the last few chapters of the final book. Very soon, this biggest story I have ever written will be concluded.
It is true what they say. You look towards the end of your major projects with both a laughing and a crying eye.

What is this? A new blog post! Oh my gosh! Jokes aside, I wasn't planning to make another blog post ever again. But perhaps there is still someone out there who enjoys reading this.

    Guess I finally managed it...

I noticed I am no longer getting comments and hardly any views on new chapters at all. I guess I finally managed to bore all my fans away due to my slow update speed. I am eternally sorry for this. My books never were all that successful to begin with and now I seem to have reached the point where I'm not even writing for anyone but my two pre-readers anymore.

MI Beta, Post 6 · 10:34pm Apr 15th, 2014

Well, it finally happened. I had a breakdown due to my job. Can't handle the stress anymore.
I will have to go into therapy soon and it is likely I will have to cancel the final year of my training and start all over again with a completely different job.
These are quite horrible discoveries to me. I thought I could be a kindergarden teacher all my life long. But I guess I was wrong. I can't even stand to look at kids anymore.

For now, I'm signed off work, giving me the time to finally write a bit more. I really can use the distraction anyway.
So here we go. Another scrapped beta concept of my book series.

The Devastator of Manehattan
In Maledictum Insania 2, I originally planned to introduce a new type of demon during the destruction of Manehattan. These demons are called Devastators and are heavily inspired by The Shadows from the GemCraft flash game series (which I am a huge fan of).
Basically, they are huge flying, nearly shapeless black masses, soaring across the sky. Once they reach their target, they drop themselves to the ground, causing an earthquake. Upon reaching the ground, they change their appearance and become like a black whirlpool, long limbs with a single massive nail on each extending out of it. The special ability of the devastators is that they are capable of devouring everything, not just ponies and their souls. The more they devour, the larger they grow, enabling them to cause even more destruction. Since they are considered high-ranked demons, a single devastator would have been enough to turn large parts of Manehattan into ruins and eliminate a huge quantity of the city's total population.

Why was this idea scrapped?
There is no real flaw in the concept of the devastators. The reason why they were not introduced in MI2 was because I saw potential to introduce another unique demon, Toxica. She, in fact, ended up becoming even far more destructive than a devastator.

That does not mean that I will not introduce them in MI3, though. The devastator was simply moved to the final book, so you can expect to see them in action there.

That's it for this time. Hopefully, I will be more active now again. As always, I would appreciate a comment.
Until next time.

Wow, the rankings of the demons are really getting more brutal. I can imagine that these would be almost impossible to stop. Can't wait to see these in action in the last book, I know it's going to be good. I imagine that they may reach Malice's level. :twilightsheepish:

Actually, one question. Does Malice actually surpass the demon queen herself? He did take 3 alicorns down in The Duel ending of MI1. :rainbowderp:

By the way, sorry about your loss. :pinkiesad2:

While there are several demons that can considered high-ranked, Malice still clearly stands above them all. He is so mighty, he has his own rank: super-high.
Devastators as well can not even compare to the power Malice has.

And no. Even if Malice consumed all the power in this world, he would still be lower in rank and power than Nightmare Moon. Her powers are pretty much god-like at this point. She is doomsday personified. Should she ever become ressurected, it instantly means the end of the entire world.
