Yikes. I didn't care for the fanfic before (I didn't like what I saw on its TV Tropes page), but... wow.
Heir Apparent involves Game Over chapters, but (1)the victim's not a little kid, (2)the character can actually use what she's learned from Game Over chapters to deal with whatever comes ahead, and (3)she's inside a virtual game, not fighting in real life.
The fanfic Waking Nightmares has some chapters where the characters are forced to fight their friends, and there's nightmare fuel every story arc, but (1)the friends always get better, (2)progress gets made in the fanfic, with characters gaining powerful skills to help them fight the Big Bad, and (3)no matter how nightmarish the chapters get, there's always a comedic Slice-of-Life to give you a breather afterwards.
From what I can gather, it sounds like Moon Shooter is attempting to make a dark, dramatic, suspenseful fic. However, the plot lacks balance between multiple elements, ruining pacing and making the fic heavy and depressing. Balance, Moon Shooter, balance.
Babylove, I do really appreciate your opinion... but did this review really need to be 31 minutes long?
