Why Strebiskunk Stinks as a Fanfic Reviewer!

This guys is terrible at reviewing Fanfiction. He should stick with episode reviews.

Oooook.

I know the fanfic, I know the review, and I saw your review. Let's start with the fanfic. I read it, I thought it was ok, but it does have flaws. I do agree with Strebisskunk on the fact that some of the scenes and speeches go on for way too long. They sometimes get repetitive, basically repeating what has already been said.I don't really have an opinion when it comes to the justification of Spike's fears. Its what the story is about, I accept that. It does get a bit bothersome to me how much Spike needs to hear that he is an important part of Twilight's life though. Instead of just accepting it when she tells him he keeps looking for counter arguments as to why he is not. Now, you can get in an emotional state where you do that, but in this particular story I do not think its warranted. The story is trying a bit too hard to be emotional and such, if it was toned down a bit I'd personally would have appreciated it more.I read this story, and for me that was that. Its not a story I'd read again, but I don't regret reading it.

Ok, one thing out of the way first: You are right, this is not an unbiased review. The thing is, I don't think its meant to be. He is giving his personal opinion as to why he doesn't like the story and he gives arguments as to why that is so. He makes jokes in between, which you would not see in an neutral review. It comes down to this: this is his personal opinion explained, not a neutral review. If its his decision to talk about this fanfic then that is his choice, if you want a neutral review then you obviously have to find a different reviewer.

Your review:
The biggest problem is here that you yourself are very obviously biased as well. You state at the end of it that a review should be neutral and unbiased. That seems a bit hypocritical at that point. Your video, very obviously, is you reacting to a negative opinion from another person towards something you like. The fact that you don't recognize a reference doesn't make it a bad reference. Your statement that he doesn't mention anything about the good writing is plain false, he pretty much says exactly that actually "the writing is good." The fact that Strebisskunk says that the speech Spike gives is very long is an opinion and doesn't make it so (even if I agree with him there), but he does state its an opinion. It is your opinion that the speech need to be as long to properly give the reader the chance to get emotionally invested. That is fine, I respect that, but it too is an opinion, not a fact.

If Strebisskunk's review was supposed to be a neutral one, then yes, this would be a bad review. But it is him giving his personal opinion in a what he thinks is a humorous way (and for the record, I'm not laughing), clearly stating its his personal opinion. I don't have to agree with him and I don't have to find his jokes funny. I don't think its a bad review, its just not a neutral one.
