Good news, everyone! </farnsworth>
I haven't completely ignored the previous blog post's results, although I didn't completely listen to you guys, either. I have been working on the new chapter for Greener Pastures, but seeing as I abandoned the plot draft for the last chapter, there's a few small problems with how I'm going to continue. Nothing big though, and I can for the most part still stick to the original plan. Anyway, on to said good news...
I've had another idea for a story! Something about getting eight hours of sleep as opposed to my usual five makes me get ideas more often. I should probably keep that in mind for the next time I'm stuck on my stories (yes, stories. For those keeping count, I'm working on three right now, although you can only follow the progress of GP for now. That is, unless you come and look me up in the FIMFiction IRC, where I spend more and more time these days).
The rewriting of the chapters is done, even though you guys said you wanted me to work on chapter 6 first. Rest assured, though. I'm making decent progress with chapter 6. It's still going slow compared to the first three chapters, if you've been around for those (in which case, a cookie for you!), but I can promise you (not sure if I'm willing to risk a Pinkie-Promise, but you guys get the idea) that it'll be done much faster than chapter 5 was.
As soon as my editor finishes working on the story (he's only done chapter 1 so far, but I'm sure it'll be done in two or three days) I'm going for attempt two at submitting the story to Equestria Daily. Seeing as the only previous commentary I received was "There's too many errors, and it needs work.", I'm feeling ever so slightly confident in it getting through. Hell, it might not get featured on account of the story being a tad cliche, but even then, as long as they don't have anything too negative to say about my writing, I'll be happy. Here's hoping that I don't get my hopes and motivation crushed again, hmm?
Anyway, seeing as you guys must be getting pretty tired of these blog posts, I'm going to try to keep these to a minimum from now on. That doesn't change the fact that I like keeping my readers informed. You guys have been very supportive (in particular when looking back at previous chapters, some of those really needed a lot of work) and I feel like you guys deserve this much, at least.
I'm going to try to have chapter 6 done in a few days, but it'll probably take a little longer than that to be published, because my editor will still have to take a look at it, and I'd rather he finished the previous chapters before he got started on the new ones. Hopefully for you guys, his editing will be faster than my writing.
The other story (check out that totally subtle hint, by the way) I just mentioned, the one I had the idea for, is one I can tell you guys something about, if you're really interested (if you are, I'll turn it into another blog post, but I'll make sure not to tag Greener Pastures as a related story). A word of caution: It's going to feature humans, but not in your usual "Brony-gets-dumped-in-Equestria-and-proceeds-to-bother-any-living-thing-he-can-find" style. It's going to be a very serious story, and I've asked around for people's opinion on a short summary of the plot. Most of them said that it had potential, although it needed some work (as always, when it's a rough draft). I'm not going to start working on this story before I've finished GP, or the other story I've been talking about, so don't worry about me taking even longer with my chapters; it's not going to happen.
On one final note, I've also recently hit 60 favourites on GP, and a small part of me felt like that was kind of a big deal. Maybe. Yay.
Back to working on chapter 6!
