Trigger Happy - An update on my progress

    Hello fellow readers!

It's... been a while. Yes, last time I was here I'd gone for a hiatus after finishing up Trial 2 almost 5 months ago. In retrospect, taking a long break from writing was definitely something I needed, as otherwise I was in danger of burning out. This last month or so I started dipping into work on Trigger Happy once again, looking to get back in the game.

Shamelessly self-promoting my video content, because why not?

This blog is made in service of promoting my YouTube channel, the videos of which include podcast episodes made by my friend and I, and also some solo videos relating to Keyforge.

If that doesn't sound interesting to you, no worries! Most of you are probably only here for my fanfics, which is great! I appreciate the support. Take care out there.

Dealing with COVID and struggling to write.

    Well... this is unfortunate.

December was a busy month for me, both work-wise and personally, with sorting out things for Christmas and such, meaning I'd had hardly a chance to get any writing done. January rolls around and I finally get a chance to take some time off work to sort out various things, including cranking out that next chapter.

Pinkie The Match-Maker readers! I need an opinion... · 9:53pm Apr 3rd, 2014

Dear Pinkie The Match-Maker readers,

Okay, so it's been a while. And by while, I mean four months since my last update. I might as well admit right now that my fanfic writing has fallen off the map these past six months due to various reasons and it probably won't get any better. :ajsleepy: But at the same time, I feel I should at least finish one multi-chapter story, and PTMM is the closest to completion. So I'm trying. I have done some work on the next chapter, but it's far from finished. And so here comes my question to the readers:

Would you prefer I finish the final chapter in full at my super-slow pace and publish it a few months down the line? Or would you prefer I split the chapter into two parts, meaning an earlier update? I've thought about the order of scenes and with one change from my original plan I can stop at a convenient cut-off point. The downside here is that you'll be getting another dreaded cliffhanger moment. (Though admittedly, not as brutal as a few of my previous ones)

I would really appreciate an honest opinion from you guys. :pinkiesad2:

I don't know what your situation is, but from my perspective I'd say that you should do what you can, and don't push too hard. If you have to split it and work toward the ending for later, then don't stress out about it.

For most people I would say that it would be better to just get something out. The reason is that the longer you wait the more it is going to bother you. Just like now it is eating you up but you can temporarily alleviate that if you can publish something. Granted don't do it if you are not ready but if you are ready that can help you feel like you are accomplishing something which can be a great help for your own needs.

Not sure really. If you are having trouble writing it, then I wouldn't push yourself. Having two more chapters instead of one might be easier to write, but that means that there would be a cliff hanger, and from what you have said, there is no telling when the next chapter might come out.

Doing one big chapter will allow the readers to not have to remember what the cliffhanger was in the first place due to a long lag in updates. I am notorious for doing cliffhanger chapter endings though, so I can't say a lot about it.

Anyway, just do what feels right to you and don't push yourself. Just write when you can, and put it out when you feel it is ready.

Write it however you want. I'm cool with waiting.
