    An Announcement

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today is a special day. For years now, I have been working silently, crafting a tale that I have kept in the background for this entire time as I strung keystrokes together for this site.

    Character Analysis: Rarity

    Ah, Rarity.

The things I could say about her. You see, dear Rarity was what brought me to the fandom you see. It was summer of 2012, and there I sat in the living room, with a want of something to do, when there on the TV guide was "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Now, I had heard of some weirdos who actually liked this show, so I decided, "Eh, why not see what the deal is?"

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    So...

The latest Chapter of Marks of War seems to have disappeared.

I'm going to have to rewrite a good chunk of stuff.

    This is so uncool...

    It'll be back...

See you all later, I guess.

Edit: Something weird is going on. I've double posted for some reason.

    The Season 5 Finale

    It was...okay...

I mean, it started amazingly! The whole time travel/alt. universe thing was awesome. Yes, Wanderer D said that it didn't make sense because NNM would win every time, but since we saw Luna in the Discord universe, we can assume that someone found the Elements of Harmony, so it kinda does make sense.

    Character Analysis: Princess Celestia

Okay, okay, I know I said I do the Mane Six, but...well...the big problem with doing the mane six is that most people have a good hold on them. Pinkie sometimes gets the short end of the stick because she’s so hyperactive people skim over her, but that’s becoming less and less an issue as time goes on.

    Princess Celestia, however…

Let's Talk Sequels · 12:31pm Mar 28th, 2014

Not mine, you understand, but rather the idea of the sequel.

How often do you read a one-shot fanfic, go to the comments section and see someone begging for a sequel?

Certainly everything that's gotten to the feature box has seen that, and a few other amazing pieces have also, but...

But why?

Why should the author write a sequel when he can just add another chapter?

I mean, really!

Other than a little bit more visibility, all you get with a sequel is waiting for a few days for the approval process to say that you can do it.

What's the point?

If the readers want to read more, give them more, in the same story! We don't need to fill the site with more stories when we can cut back on them.

No one is going to mind reading a two- or even three-chapter story.

Sequels should be reserved for the massive monsters of a story. ANS is big, not huge, but still big, if I were to combine all three books I had planned into one, the thing would need it's own zip code. That's worthy of a sequel. A story that, when combined, is over 10k words? That's tiny! It doesn't need a sequel! Just add another chapter, please!

"Miner, are you ranting again?"

...Maybe...

Because that would make sense. :pinkiecrazy:

Here's another question: Why do we make separate chapters, when we can have it all in one large one?

Same reason for both, I guess.

Does it really hurt anything to have more stories on here? I mean, things being more condensed is always nice, but, if someone wants to make it a separate story instead of a chapter, power to them.

Is this a case of the 'big' author coming down on the 'little' author? :P

Because feature box.

Sometimes, one has a stand-alone one-shot that perfectly fits the image. Sometimes, the title has been painstakingly thought out, and to add anything else to it is sheer blasphemy. Sometimes... a new story is the best thing to do.

However yes, some people do abuse the concept of sequels, writing out 5-7 parts of 5k - 20k words when one giant story would work. Those people are kinda off in the head, but honestly, what does it really matter?

Miner, are you ranting again? derpicdn.net/media/W1siZiIsIjIwMTMvMDIvMTcvMDZfMDhfMDVfNzIzXzI0NjMxNF9fVU5PUFRfX3NhZmVfdHdpbGlnaHRfc3BhcmtsZV92ZWN0b3JfNTEyMDczODZhNGM3MmQ2NGFjMDAwM2M5LnBuZy5wbmciXSxbInAiLCJ0aHVtYiIsIjI1MHgyNTAiXV0/246314__safe_twilight-sparkle_vector_solo_not-amused_51207386a4c72d64ac0003c9.png.png

Guess I should get the electric collar...you and these damn rants man.

Jokes aside, I agree wholeheartedly with you on this. Every now and then so much thought/effort goes into a one-shot --like Spacecowboy said-- that it wouldn't be quite fair to have to add more...most times however, people should just add-on rather than build a sequel.
