    I'm Basically Done

I hate to say it, but I've moved on from fan fiction, and really the whole brony community as a whole. As with all things, you just get bored of it eventually, and I think that times has come for me. Who knows, maybe I'll have time for this stuff later in life, but I think it's time to say goodbye. I've been spending a lot of time working on music and stuff; my band is playing at the Burlington

A Temporary Loss In Interest, And In Time

So I haven't been on here very much in the last two weeks. I've been keeping busy with things, schools things, and adjusting to taking more hours at my job. I'm also not feeling particularly inspired in terms of ponyfic, but I do have some ideas I want to write before I call writing quits (which will probably happen within the next year, honestly. Though I'll probably still pop in here as long as

    Testing Testing 1, 2, 3

So today, after spending all day studying for my upcoming AP exam, working 8 hours at my new* job, and then doing more of the same, I decided to unwind and try and catch up on season 4, which I admittedly never finished. And what do I get when unwinding? An episode about fracking tests for Baltar's sake. It's like mlp is trying to tell me to study instead of wasting time watching cartoons. Joke's

The Best Blog Ever Written · 1:26am Mar 20th, 2014

And it's about editing and drafting, of all things.

Everyone should give Piquo Pie's blog a look-see, especially if they're not too familiar with the drafting process. This is what it takes to make a story you're satisfied with. I learned this very recently when I went through the uphill treck that was (and continues to be) Fool In The Rain. It's boring, it's difficult, but it'll give your story a facelift and a half if you put enough effort.

Here's one thing I really liked from the blog, in case you're too lazy to read the whole thing (it's hefty, can't blame you):

The writers of the Simpsons and Futurama have mentioned on the hundreds (literally) of episode commentaries that they always seem to keep making up new jokes during the process of making the shows. They'll pitch one joke, and then afterward during all the subsequent stages of creating an episode they get so used to the joke that they can no longer tell if it's funny to anyone but themselves anymore. That's why they have to bring in new people to see/hear the joke for them to know that it's still totally fine.

This is how your writing needs to be. You need to draft that son of a bitch until you're sick of it and don't want anything to do with it, and then you have to bring in prereaders to reassure you that what you've got is still good. That may sound like you're taking the fun out of writing, but I'll take the satisfaction of a job well done over a little bit of fun any day. Nothing compares to knowing you did your absolute best job on a story, even if that story, like Fool In The Rain, is underrated as all fuck.
