Grandiur is done. · 3:34am Mar 6th, 2014
The thing that this account was originally made for is done for. Grandiur is extremely slow-paced, and didn't really keep my attention for long. Just adding the same plot effects like passing out and the melodrama of not remembering anything gets really tedious, and it was canonically inaccurate in the worst ways possible (as I started a fic when I was a fan of bronies, but not a brony myself, tbh). But it really is hard to leave such a unique character as Grandiur behind. The other thing I was looking forward to was to develop the characters, including Grandiur. But, sadly, it just isn't going to happen with Grandiur. So, as a last thing about it, here's the rest of the plot:
So, Grandiur leaves the city on the foot of the hill but is kidnapped by the main antagonists. He then realizes that he's a time traveling criminal that had amnesia due to a glitch during the time jump. When he returns, he is determined to stop the antagonists who include Applejack, King Sombra, and Crystalis. He activates four statues and heads to ruined Ponyville to activate Twilight's statue, only to be confronted by Applejack. There he learns she's invincible as long as the Essence of Darkness is in her. Off the cliff of Canterlot, they take their final showdown. Grandiur almost falls to his death when Twilight lends him her wings to finish the battle. Grandiur prevails and is reunited with his friends. He gets the girl and the Princess' respect. The end!
... Horrible. Horrible plot line. The fact of the matter is, NOBODY LIKES ALICORNS. Just turning five of the mane six into them is a stupid move, and wasn't quite well thought out either. Also, adding time travel to it just makes it more confusing and is really just a useless plot device.
Errg... well, now that I vented off, I'd better end this post.
Brohoofs to you all, and here's hoping Discord! Under His Rule will be better than this...
P.S. I'm not taking Grandiur down. It is discontinued, but I'm not that shameful of it. It was a good first attempt, just not good enough to continue off of.
