I think I'm getting ahead of myself... · 10:36pm Mar 5th, 2014
I talked with Midnight Rose about the new story, and we... we were surprised that it got so popular as much as it did. I mean, TwiLuna is awesome, but... still.
We were wondering if this is good enough to be submitted to Equestria Daily, but after much of what we heard about the prereaders there... not sure. Should I submit it there?

Speaking as an Equestria Daily pre-reader myself (hi there :3), it's cute, and sweet, and rather fluffy. I think, with an editing pass or two, it'd be postable. However, seeing the word count, you might need to add a bit onto it. We have some minimum word count requirements, and we can be flexible if it's good, but it's not quite there. Another 500, 750 words, and I think most of the group could be persuaded.

Oh, I didn't know there was a word count requirement. I have never tried to submit something there before. What is the requirement?

Yeah, the word count is something we don't normally concern ourselves with because the vast majority of work is long enough. It's 2500 for a one shot, 3000 minimum for a multi-chapter fic.
I'd say add 250 or 350 words to it, and that'd be enough to be 'close enough'. You might get rejected the first time, and you'll be given a list of fixes, or it might be minor "you have a typo here and some wonky grammar there" stuff. I can't pick it up, since I'm biased in your favor, but I think you have a decent shot.

I'll think about it.

For what it's worth, I've consistently enjoyed your work, and the ratings on your writing reflect that too.

Thank you.
Though now that I think about it, I'm not exactly sure how to make this story longer without dragging it a bit longer than it should.

Looking it over again, I think extending the ending is your best bet. Maybe an 'x months/year/years later' notice after the current ending and going from there.
