Nightmare in Old Equestria nearly complete (and some future ideas I have in mind) · 7:27pm Feb 27th, 2014
I'm on the final scenes and hope to have it finished by the end of the day. From there it's finding a couple friends free to proofread and we'll be all set to go. In the meantime, DiscordedWhovian finished some great cover art for my story. Head over there to check it out.
My plan after that is to warp up Nightmare Night: The Rest of the Time. I've let that slip since I didn't make my Halloween deadline and got more inspired to keep working on Old Equestria.
Not sure what I'll do from there. I have a few ideas but nothing completely planned out. I have several "Doctor Whooves" ideas. I also have regular fic ideas for Scootaloo & Sweetie Belle. A quick run-down of my current thoughts (Titles are tentative):
Doctor Whooves: Equestria Games 2074
The First Doctor, his granddaughter Perennial, and their companions Big McIntosh & Cheerilee arrive in Equestria's future just in time for the latest Equestria games. While Big Mac begins to question whether the Doctor will truly get them home, the others get caught up in an unicorn's ambitious project, to create a device that can fly in the sky with all the agility of a pegasus and use it in the Games. But not everypony is happy about this project, and thus it must be defended from hostile pegasi who believe the sky belongs to them.
Doctor Whooves: The Memory of Intelligence
Starring the Second Doctor. Ever since she met him one time prior to coming to Ponyville, Twilight has had dreams of traveling with the mysterious pony known as the Doctor. She had been tempted to just sneak aboard the TARDIS, but chickened out a the last moment. One night, after a particularly bad dream leaves her very shaken, she seeks support from her friend Pinkie Pie, and tells the story of a dream in which she, the Second Doctor, and the Earth Pony Scoltsman Persimmon faced off against a creature known only as the Great Intelligence.
Doctor Whooves: The Two Princesses
Fresh from aiding his immediate successor, the Second Doctor and his companions, Persimmon and Twilight Sparkle, find themselves knocked off course due to residual time energy that was used to move the Doctor through his own timeline. When they land, the Doctor finds himself face to face with another of his future selves. This Doctor identifies himself as his Seventh incarnation and introduces his companion, a rebellious unicorn who calls herself Ace. The Doctors encounter is anything but uneventful, as a vengeful enemy is also present. This enemy enjoys nothing more than meddling with time and, the Doctors realize, the one thing he will not be able to resist is the opportunity to tamper with the history of not one, but two future Princesses of Equestria.
Doctor Whooves: Aurora
Ace has a secret. She is not the unicorn she passes herself off as. Under the jacket she wears is a pair of wings and her apparently blank flank is actually hiding a cutie mark in the shape of the sun hidden by her magic. Nopony knows her secret, and she's inclined to keep it that way. She ran away from her home time because the last thing she wants is to have a destiny she didn't choose forced on her. But Destiny will only be put off for so long, and her latest adventure with her mentor, the Doctor, will bring her face to face with the fate she was born to and the Alicorn Celestia of Equestria must decide if she will embrace it or continue running.
Doctor Whooves: The Mirror of Time
This idea is on hold until Series 8 comes out and we see more of the Twelfth Doctor.
The Twelfth Doctor's companion, Pinkie Pie, suddenly falls ill and seems to be in dire straits. The Doctor realizes that an event is having a serious effect on her time stream. He narrows the cause down to modern-day Ponyville and a magic pool with the ability to duplicate whoever dives into it. In order to save his Impossible Mare, the Doctor goes to Ponyville to solve the mystery and, along the way, reunites with his companion Derpy, now married with a daughter by the Doctor's past half-pony regeneration of his past self, now known as Time Turner.
Some non-Doctor Whooves ideas:
An Inevitable Question
Scootaloo has lived in Ponyville her entire life, the daughter of a pair of earth ponies. Her parents have never kept it hidden from her that they adopted her as an infant and, for the most part, has never been bothered by the fact. But there is one question that every such child, no matter how happy, will inevitably ask. Scootaloo has finally asked it herself:
"Who are my birth parents?"
Scootaloo's parents knowing this question was coming, have an answer, but now must decide if Scootaloo is old enough to know a painful truth about where she came from.
Sweetie Belle's Stage Fright
This idea may undergo some revision based on the events of "Filli Vanilli."
Sweetie Belle has a natural talent for singing, but gets so nervous when singing in front of other ponies that she can never do it properly. Having helped Fluttershy start dealing with her own stage fright, Rarity recruits her parents in figuring out how to help Sweetie Belle find the courage to sing in front of other ponies, bring out her gift and maybe, just maybe, her cutie mark.
What your Doctor Whooves Stories could use is an overarching plot, like the Prisoners in Time comic series had, leading up to some multi-era crossover. That would be awesome.
