To this day I am still getting notifications that people have favorited my first story, The Incredible Inventions of Doctor Whooves. And I have to ask...
WHY????
Seriously, that story was a big walloping piece of shit with a side order of suck. It was a failed attempt at a romance, the first thing like that I'd ever written. It had hardly any plot to it, absolutely no character development whatsoever, a useless OC that contributed nothing to the seemingly non-existent storyline, and to top ot all off, a botched attempt at a solid first fic. I took one of the most heartwarming fanon ships out there and brutally slaughtered it with the Guillotine of No Characterization, then threw its entrails into the Garbage Bin of Superficial Side Characters and smashed the whole thing with the giant Warhammer of Headcanon Destroying.
(And that was probably the most elaborate metaphor I've ever written in my life.)
I can say without a doubt that 99% of why this happened was because of the timing. It was the day before my birthday, and I knew I was going to be very busy that day, a Saturday. I rushed to get the fic done and up on the site that Friday, so that when I woke up on my birthday I could see all the wonderful people that make up FiMFiction.net giving me praise as an aspiring author. I was excited to finally get the chance to contribute to the brony community—a little too excited, and my work suffered for it. I should have taken at least another day or two to work on it and improve it.
Although, in retrospect, this may just be the common author's dilemma of self-detrimentation. I'm sure we've all been in that spot: we think our own work looks good, until after it gets posted and we read it and go "How the fuck did I screw this up so badly?" It may also be my inability to handle criticism and my capacity to be easily swayed—if one person says it sucks, I often start to feel the same way.
My biggest concern, though, is that for a cheesy one-shot romance fic, it's still the most popular of the four I have so far. Hopefully that will change with the submission of my latest work, but it's very ego-damaging to have something you're dissaitsfied with reaching significantly higher popularity than the one you feel proud of.
Sorry to burden you all with this massive wall of text. It's just so shocking to me to see this going on to this day.

On a somewhat more relevant note, maybe (now bear with me here), just maybe, it's not as bad as you thought it was?
It's a decent story. you should do more with it. Maybe rewrite if it pisses you off so much.

Yah see, you need to learn not to give a fuck. It's also called "acceptance", i don't call it that but whatever. My story is good by my standards, but not by others. So it kinda pissed me off when a good writer bad mouths his own good work, ya feel me? Sooooo, give yourself some credit and accept the praise you fuckin modest asshole.
