I do realize that I am way slower with my chapters than I used to be. The reasons for that are plentifull.
Mostly, its a mixture of me having little time, just waiting for more material from season 4 and hoping for inspiring suggestions for Cupcake Factory.
But despite everything, I never lost track of my Maledictum Insania series.
Actually, there are many different thoughts which went into making this series. Most were written down in the chapters as you know them.
But sometimes, there were obscure ideas which I once had but couldn't use in the final version.
Quite a while back, I came to the conclusion to gather as many of these scrapped ideas I had and publish them as blog posts.
Seeing now how I already have little to provide at the time, I am going to sweeten the wait for my next chapters by tossing in a few posts once in a while, containing one scrapped idea each. Let's get right down to the first.
The three lost mini sequels
Early after I decided to have 3 different endings for Maledictum Insania 1, I toyed with the idea of writing oneshot sequels to each ending.
In the Ringing Bells sequel, Fluttershy would have reappeared in Ponyville every few years and have talked to her friends. They would visibly be much older at each visit while Fluttershy stood young. Ultimately, Fluttershy would end up reaping her own friends.
The Duel sequel would have been about reaper Twilight desperately trying to save as many ponies as she could and trying to get away from demons, only to end up admitting that she is unable to stop or escape the destruction of the world. Finally, Malice would return and trick her into going to Fluttershy's basement, trapping and killing her to get his reaper cloak back.
In the Letter of Destiny sequel, it would have been about Obsidian's quest to adapt back to the life of a pony. Fluttershy would have been pregnant throughout the story and it would have ended with the birth of her's and Obsidian's foal.
Why was this idea scrapped?
While all ideas would have been very interesting and fun to write, it would have killed any chance for me to write a true continuation to MI1, preventing me from creating the MI series.

Quite Fasinating! I was curious, do you ever plan to use Solar flare? It was a fanmade corrupted version of Celestia, like Nightmare Moon. I'm not sure how you would use it, since at the end of the second book, Celestia lost her alicorn power. If the demon/insanity would have taken over Celestia?
I am also curious if you were planning to do a Cakes/Pie story, since we got a little preview of the two families meeting up and bits of it through the main story. It would be interesting to flush out the story more.

Solar Flair is pretty much the Lunaverse version of Nightmare Moon. I once imagined what my story would be like if I wrote it in the Lunaverse. I came to the conclusion that instead of Nightmare Moon the demon queen, we would have Solar Flare the goddess of justice. Instead of demons, we would have avenging angels. Instead of red darkness, we would have corrupted light. The only thing I don't think requires any change at all would be the reapers. But all in all, it is just pretty much a copycat of the Maledictum Insania that already exists, just with the whole scheme inverted.
So to make it short, Solar Flare is not going to happen in my book series.
The whole backstory of the Cakes and Pies was mostly just seen in Maledictum Insania: The Creation and in Obsidian's explanation speech. It was never meant to be explored deeper and should only give vague hints on what is going on. Though as with more and more hints coming together and seing how one of the upcoming episodes is going to be about the Pie family, it is pretty save to say that the Pie family will still be a factor in MI3. I do not want to spoil too much, but with the few hints I already gained from season 4 to that matter, I came up with some pretty neat ideas which will definitely fill up an entire chapter in the final book.
Looks like I had the same idea as you for The Duel ending, after I got permission if I could make a small story based from the aftermath of it. Which I didn't get the interest to do since I couldn't think of much plot. Reaper Twilight saving many as she can, except the part about Fluttershy's basement.
I think you mentioned somewhere about Fluttershy and Obsidian losing their foal, from the Ringing Bells ending, about Despair attacking her when she was pregnant at a time. Leading Obsidian to go on a rampage against the demons while the couple were struggling with their relationship due to their lost.
Are you actually planning to make a small story about those routes? I really think that both of those routes would have been good to read.

What you talk about is another beta idea i will talk about some other time. Cant use up all my canceled concept ideas so soon.
