I Have Good Titles For Stories, Not For Blogs... · 8:57pm Feb 25th, 2014
I've been really plowing through my writings, and I'm really enjoying myself. I'm toying with the idea of taking a short one week break from Fimfiction and just spend all my time writing on my SpikeDash competition entry. I hope you guys really like it when I do publish it; it has a really fun plot. It was something I was discussing with a collaborator about nine months ago. We worked out a general plot line and what we wanted to happen, and it looked set to be really awesome. Unfortunately neither of us really seemed to have our hearts in it, so it got pushed to the side until eventually it was forgotten. With the recent mention of a SpikeDash competition (with a generous cash prize this time around), I decided that if money's at stake, I should probably ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands... *Cough*Totally not just after the money*Cough*
Anyway, it will be a multichapter, and my first in a while. Generally, I don't like multichapters; I start them, and then I forget about them. Like, literally forget. I get home one weekend and play some games and do some homework, and then I realize that I have stories that actually need completing. The good thing about oneshots is that no one is pressuring you to complete it because it's already complete.
Anyway, with the publish of a new story, it pretty much means that my next story is guaranteed to be a SpikeDash because all of my upcoming oneshots are now SpikeDash. One of them was really reignited by YourNeighborhoodAlicorn. It's not an good story, by any means, but it's really fun and cute. Ridiculously and unbearably cute. Some of the others are not rated for kiddies, admittedly, but this site is lacking any actual romantic mature rated stories to do with SpikeDash, so I thought I'd write one of those.
Anyway, onward to what I've written this time: it's another oneshot inspired by one of my favorite sad authors, TheMessenger. I'm not sure if any of you remember me gushing over his story, Temporary Hiatus, about a month ago, but upon reading it I realized that I really wanted to see Daring Do's side of it.
I quickly realized that no one else was going to write it, so why not me? I made a small collection of notes in my notefolder, but I didn't really get around to finishing it until Temporary Hiatus was featured on Equestria Daily. I felt pretty bad for neglecting TheMessenger's belated Christmas present or birthday present (I don't know when his birthday is) or Valentine's day gift, if he will have me. So I got right on and finished up the story since I have a week's break right now.
This story is kind of strange for me; I was exploring a method of narration I have previously neglected: first-person. It contains no dialogue or actions at all. Instead, it's simply the narrator's, in this case Daring Do's, thoughts and observations as life slowly ebbs away from her. It's certainly vastly different from the warm and snuggly bosom of third-person limited that I like to stick to all the time (Honestly, even third-person omniscient has me tearing my hair out when it comes to editing for folks).
I don't think I'm really ever tempted to write like this again. Present tense scares me anyway. With that said, I do have some ideas for more first-person and second-person stories, although I bet they're a long way off yet. I have some pretty cool multichapters I want to start on first.
Anyway, for those who remember my little progress blog, the updated stories are as follows:
- Hooves: 65%
- Compromise: 45%
- Compromise Sequel: 20%
Just don't ask how I manage to start on sequels before I finish a story. My writing process is really really weird.
Funny thing, my reading break just ended.
Yes!! A multichapter story with my favourite shipping caracters, make from you!!
Now i can die happy
Maybe, after i read it

Maybe after I write it
I'm glad you're excited to see me write something. Sometimes it can feel like you're writing for an empty room.
