My Return and a Rant · 10:37am Jan 31st, 2014
My Internet problems are now repaired and I will be responding to all messages again and, as you can see, I'm updating too. I may have suffered some withdrawal from lack of pony for a week, but am now recovering.
And now a short rant, do not treat this as a reasonable argument, it is just me whining.
Cadence. She ruins every episode she touches. Last week's episode was, I'm sorry to say, bad. There is one simple reason I see for this. To write in Cadence, all other characters had to be removed in a way which undermined the plot as a whole.
In 'A Canterlot Wedding', all other protagonists were removed so Cadence could save the day. Celestia was knocked out despite that being impossible, Luna simply was not present, with no explanation and the elements were all 'captured' by bugs with a limited offensive capability. If this had not happened, then Cadence would not be needed. Celestia could have blasted Chrysalis herself, Luna could have done the same, the elements could have rainbowed her sorry hide, but no, they used the pink alicorn OC.
This happened in 'Three's a Crowd'. AJ and Rarity came down with Blue Flu, Fluttershy was out of town, Pinkie Pie was distracted by a balloon (WTF?) all so Cadence could be the only one to go with Twilight to the Badlands to fetch the flower. This is why I dislike Cadence, her character is superfluous. She does not bring anything new to the game. At least Shining Armour has some sort of role as the ever so rare male character.
Anyway, this means that I am labelling 'Three's a Crowd' as an officially 'bad' episode, bringing my total to four; the other being 'A Canterlot Wedding Part 1 and 2', and 'Magic Duel'. Perhaps the title was a subconscious play by the writer. It wasn't Discord that was the annoying third wheel, it was Cadence. With that stupid Flash Sentry.

1778139 Yes, but as I said, it's not a rational argument. I suppose I dislike her due to her apparent weakness. I mean c'mon, an alicorn, captured by glorified bugs? And she doesn't exactly have the most memorable personality. I just think she exists to sell more toys.

Her relaxing breathing technique actually works. Other than that, I got nothing.
It's gonna be hard when I have to write her in my fic. (spoilers)
