Albinocorn Reviews: Season 4, Episode 8: Rarity Takes Manehattan · 5:41am Jan 6th, 2014
So, I saw the Desolation of Smaug twice last week and it was very awesome! Smaug was totally badass!
Hey, wrong review!
Oh, right. We're suppose to be talking about Rarity. A trip to the big city, expanding proverbial horizons and meeting some new characters! Time to party, big city style!
Curse her fabulous mane.
Alright, to be honest, Rarity isn't the highest on my pony list. Pitchforks down! I don't hate her, I just don't see what's so great about her... except her singing voice... Dear Lord, her voice is the best!
Hey, what about my singing voice?
Sorry, sweety, but it just doesn't compare to hers. It's simply fabulooooooouuuus!
Please never say that again.
There's a horse head on top of that building...
I've never been to Manehattan, but it looks like an apt description of it: tall and noisy. I prefer the suburbs myself.
Aaaaaaand here we go!
Rainbow's comment makes me wonder, are they aware of the musical sequences, or do they just kinda happen? Would that count as breaking the fourth wall?
Darn... she is good. Very good.
Seriously, what's the worth of these things?
At this point, I was really wondering what the message of this episode would be. If she's singing about generosity, then all of the lessons I could think of seemed a step backwards. I also hope they didn't just write this song to shut up everyone who was going on about Rarity not being generous.
MFW who is grumpy cat?
I don't know how to internet. Sure I've seen it somewhere just can't think where.
Anarchy! Obey your Princess!
Yep, saw this coming. Princesshood means nothing! But then, if it did, this would be too easy. Ah, I see the conflict now, Rarity won't make it to her show on time and...
... I'm completely wrong.
Huh, this is coming along nicely... too nicely.
We need conflict... we need drama... we need...
Not her.
Yes! Her! Cutthroat bitch, enter stage right!
Her accent! It's like nails against chalkboard! My ears, they're bleeding!
Okay.
Never. Say that. Again.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Well, at least we have our conflict of interest. You can practically feel the backstabbing coming.
Aaaaand there it is.
We also get introduced to a rather cute pony assistant. With an even cuter name, Coco Pommel.
Ahem.
Oh, don't be jealous, you silly filly. You can't be replaced.
Rarity, your sad is showing.
Poor Rarity, having all your designs stolen at the last minute... wait a minute. Wasn't she suppose to present today? Shouldn't she be disqualified? She spends an extra night making up new dresses, without doing her original run through! What madness is this?
Shhh, we don't question such things.
So much for freaky knowledge of sewing. Guess it's only for pins and needles.
In Rarity's mind, she must be going 'payback, bitches!' Karma from way back in season one. So much for Hinny of the Hills. By the way, I can decipher the parody behind that. Anyone?
Anyway, we watch Rarity turn into a slave driver and deliver some awesome lines. I do see why you guys like her so much, and Tabitha really gets into character. "Congrtu-pony-lations!" New best line of the season.
And perfect expressions delivered the whole way through.
Wink wink. Nudge nudge.
Only after Rarity finishes her outfits and barely makes the competition does she realize how empty victory is without friends to share it with... well she hasn't exactly won yet, but you know what I mean.
It's like a thousand voices cried out in joy... then got louder.
Yeah... I bet you guys really enjoyed that wet mane. I'll admit, she looks pretty good. Now if only we could get wet maned Sunset.
Keep dreamin'.
Applejack, living up to her element.
Yaaay, Rarity realizes her mistake and everyone's friends again... just in time for Rarity to find out she lost. Or did she...?
Oh yay, Coco is back!
So in one last act of sabotage, Suri tried to lie her way to victory. But good little Coco comes through to join the light side! Turns out Rarity really did win! And everyone got to see Hinny of the Hills! Still not seeing it.
But what's this? Rarity has to stay in Manehattan and make more dresses? Are they really going to write Rarity out of a few episodes? That would shake things up a bit. No, instead they give Rarity a brand new assistant! I certainty wouldn't mind seeing Coco around some more!
HI! Albinocorn here with Magic Thread!
Yeah, if that's not foreshadowing, I don't know what is.
So, we pretty much found one of the keys, or something that will relate to the finale. Those rainbow pony pictures that are popping up may have some merit.
Overall, this was a good episode, not going to lie. We got some new characters and a pretty solid message. Be generous, just make sure no one takes advantage of you. Seriously, it was a good episode, it just wasn't my kind of episode. Rarity is great and all, and I'll totally watch it again, but... I just can't give it a perfect score.
I can. I give it a 10/10
I give it an 8. So... I guess Rarity Takes Manehattan gets a 9/10.
...I'm tired.
(sees rainbow thread)Now make a dress for R.D.
Holy shit, you just gave me a story idea. Oh my god, thank you, thank you, thank you!
1688634 I did? Well.... you're welcome!
Dat moment when you realize that Tabitha voiced both Rarity and Suri Polomare...
hahaha, m'kay...
Agreed. I liked this episode a lot. My fav Rarity one by far.
